Walked the stacks yesterday to check on a lot of 2"x2" red oak kindling I made from short cuts this fall - made enough to fill a good sized trash can. Stacked it all in the dead space in the pallets I place on top of my stacks. About half of it is gone - someone decided to help themselves to my hard work. It was the only wood easily taken - the rest is so tightly stacked they'd have a tough time to quickly take a bunch. Bummer.
Can't like that. But I feel your pain. Haven't had any stolen from my yard in 2 years. But the first year we lived here lost about a face cord while we were gone camping. Called the police, but nothing they could do.
Probably like you guys,if somebody needs firewood, I would gladly give it to them and help them haul it home. Just don't steal it!
My wife wants me to put up a camera - might, but I opted for a sign saying 'steal more wood'....and then something about guns.....
I had to like it for ya!! That stinks! I too would gladly give wood to most anyone who asks. Even more than they ask for, but don't let me catch you stealing it.
"Trespassers and thieves will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!" Or: "Due to the high cost of ammunition there will be no warning shots!"
NH_Wood I am really sorry. Why not keep a sign to ward the intruders off or if you have big dogs at home let them loose at night so that they could keep off the intruders from your property.
