Around 10 right now with 40mph gusts. Just loaded up with cherry ash and I think I threw a split of red maple in there. Set 5 splits of sugar maple off to the side to use before bed, smaller splits so will mix em with some big ol' ash. Outside to snow blow now, I'm already sick of winter.
Been single digit temps all day here. Low of 3 tonight. The soapstone stove is burning a mix of cherry and ash. We're toasty!!!
I'm having a great time running the stove and keeping my family nice and warm, just could it be 30 and snowless all winter? Getting a new sled next year, been quite a while since I've had one. So at least I'll have something to look forward to next winter! But this one can be over anytime.
That would suit me just fine, I could go out and split some wood, not doing that with the temps in the teens though
bout 7 * outside with the wind going by real fast. 60* in the shop, 77* up & down stairs, 98* in the boiler room makes it all come together
4º outside, heading into the negative territory tonight. Inside upstairs at 72º.....AND I'M NOT TIRED OF WINTER......this is when the stove really burns like a champ....I say bring it. Got some red & white oak, locust and sugar maple in by the stove for tonight and morning, haven't brought any shagbark or dynamite in yet, I'll wait till it gets cold.
All stuffed with sugar maple. Wanted to burn down some more coals, coulda fit a couple more splits but it's bedtime. Stay warm all.
Wood stove is going. But the pellet furnace is what we rely on for most of our heat. The wood stove just adds to the efficiency of the Pellet furnace. This is the temps from the plenum. Beat those temps with your propane furnace!!! As you can see, the 30-NC is still cooking in the background! We don't have any other options. It's burn pellets and wood or the house is cold. This is year 8 that we have not burned propain!!
I'll be burning nothing but Ash for the next four to five years at least. Last time I checked my thermometer it was hovering around 6℉ that's pretty cold for southern Ohio. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
