I'm starting to pump the heat to the house before the cold snap hits, we have six splits going in the liberty and I decided to turn the pellet stove on. It's 77 in the basement (where the stoves R) and a nice 73 up here. It's 19 out tonight.
2 degrees with howling winds (15 to 25 mph) out of doors, hi of 12 degrees tomolly.,, currently 70 degrees indoors. That Hungry Monster out back is happily burning 2 kinds of hickory, ash, locust and cherry.
You had me instantly jealous until I read the rest of it. Its -23c/-9.5f right now but were on a warming trend from what Ive been seeing on the weather forecast and we know they are always right! Im burning through a bit of pine in anticipation of a larch load for overnight. I was gone much of the day and early evening so the furnace had to do some of the work. Stove room is nice and toasty though.
Still at 9*. the wife is having cataract surgery this morning . I will be stoking the stove tight with whatever I can fit through the door, I am sure it will be a mix of beech and ash with a small chance of cherry.
A scorching 2* this morn'n with high winds and good ole lake effect snow that I get to drive into this morn'n, the ole wood-burner stuffed with ash......
The winds started howling last night. Supposed to really crank up around 10am. 27° but tomorrow's high will be 23°. Lookin' in the stacks for oak.

Yep I pay dearly 10 months out of the year . 10-14 hour days 7 days a week.Maybe 4 Sunday's off a year. Dec and Jan are my slow months. There's work on the list but nothing that needs done . I'll tackle permits and paperwork today. Better days are coming.
We're at our forecast high for the day at 15°F dropping to the single digits as the day progresses. Low tonight - 10° and when these 40mph winds hit, we'll possible feel 40 below. Full load before i leave for work of my usual load, and the pellet stove running as well. thewoodlands got it right, load up heavy and prepare the house for this cold chit. We have a Christmas party right after work, so I'll be hustling later to load again. Stay warm!
Now it is getting fun. Currently 3 F with gusts to 25 . 68 F inside burning a load of red and white oak. Loaded last night at 9:30 pm @ 70 F, reloaded this morning 6:00 am @ 67 F. We like it on the cool side (69-72), but on mornings like this I would love to magically install a PH or IS and let it rip. Should get some nice solar gain today as it looks quite clear. Hope everyone is enjoying this cold as much as I am.
Was only able to get 7 splits of Oak and Maple in the 30 last night, and the house was 63 this am at 7:30am. 45 minutes later and we're back to 66, but this may take a couple minutes to get back up to at least 70. About 6 small-medium splits of Oak/Maple into the stove before I even got the 1st cup of coffee. Oh, it's 10 OAT, going to 16.
2 degrees with -10 windchill. looking for a hi of 12 today. Days like today remind me I need 1/2 a dozen new windows. 68 indoors and the owb pipes are plenty hot!
