I never thought to take photos of my first stack, first fire, first downed tree, etc. I was too busy cutting, splitting, and burning it all as fast as I could. Moving into a poorly built house in rural Eastern WA in December, with nothing but a wood stove for heat will do that to you. Its lots better now
Soft in places and starting to rot. Think about the outside of some wood that has been laying on the ground a while, or the wet spot on the inside of a hollowed out log when it dries out and is crumbly and easily broken apart.
Love the way you use harvested materials to build your sheds. What is the roof, I couldn't make out from the pictures?
Painted galvanized, the roofing and fasteners ran about $6-700 IIRC, the poles were "free" Oh and I have to keep the supervisors well fed
I have a picture of my first wood shed. Each side would hold 4 cord and I would stack 2 cord of shoulder wood on the side. I burned 4 to 6 cord/year in my first house so I was cutting a year ahead. The little cubby to the left held my splitter and the 55 gallon drum (labeled "Monkeys" because, really, is there anything more fun?) was my ash barrel. I think these were taken right when we sold the house because there's no wood left in the shed!
Save that one for sure! If you are into archery, those as sweet. Set them out about 20-30 yards and a target about 10 yards behind that and shoot through the hollow log! Of if you have a son who is a budding baseball or softball pitcher, have him throw the ball through the log. One can come up with lots of games. Like in archery or with a sling shot, when the kids shoot, tie a balloon inside the log and have them shoot at it. You'll get the idea.
