Going through some old pictures this morning and came across the first burn and the first stack. Funny thing is this was five years ago and I didn't even know about FHC yet and I still took pictures Anyone else have any?
Man I will have to look to see if I have pics. One of the things I was most excited about in the first house I bought was that I could burn wood. The other thing I was excited about was the garage was bigger then the house!
My house is roughly 1100 S.F but I have a 30x40 garage with a full loft and a 30X40 barn with a full loft so I know all about that
Yep behind the barn half leaning over the roof ruining it and the roots where causing some trouble too

First woodpile. Will finally get around to burning in the stove very soon as the wood is very dry now. It's been drying for a year already.
My first wood stove was a US Stove like they sell at TSC. It did well for what I needed. I lived in that house for three years and we used that stove as the sole heat for all three years. The first year was a little rough, I learned a lot about how wet wood doesnt burn really well. Places like this and a lot of the people here like Backwoods Savage taught me a lot and how to get ahead with wood so there isnt ever an issue with burning. One of the first things I learned from him is that most problems with wood stoves not working right have to do with the wood and it not being dry enough. That was very true and what a difference dry wood makes.
I struck lucky . Wood yard near work threw all wood outside his yard weekly that wasn't nice enough to sell . And loads of trees have been felled close by . But farm where my nephew works had some 24" ash trees that had been felled years back and just left . I'm burning the drier bits now.
Iv picked up so much in two weeks , I'm going through most post that look like they may be helpful to me , a lot I'm lost on with diesel 20 ton splitters and dodge trucks but ya can't thank everyone and click like on every pic . Plan is a generic thanks in time . For now keep reading splitting and enjoying my fire .
