I have a Husky 435. Given the info on the bar, what length chain does it take? The charts I've found online says 16", but a 16' chain is too short when I try to put it on.
Don't take this the wrong way, I've done this onced or twiced.....did you back off the tensioner screw?
That bar says that the chain should have 66 Drive Links. That is a 16" bar but not all 16" bars use 66 Drive Links. Also the chain is a .325 so make sure that is a match also. The width of the Drive link is .050 so make sure that is a match too. So you have 66 DL, .325, and .050.
Will double check all those numbers. I bought an Oregon 16" chain, that listed as compatible for the 435. Thanks
Just mark one of the drive links and then count them. You should get 66. If not then chain is not the right length.
Oregon S56. 10 links too short. Bastards. I guess the 55 in S55, is the link count. Live and learn. Thanks for all the replies. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Yep. I can see where they are cheaper online. Need to work in shipping $'s, if not free. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
PM me if you want, I have a good friend that is retired. He makes chains and ships all over. He is the cheapest I've found, and if you buy 3 or 4 at a time they fit in a $6 flat rate shipping box and will still save you some money over anywhere else I've found.
I think it's simple, but I have been wrong before. It calls out a 66 drive link chain with a .325 pitch and .050 gauge so that is the length and type that you need. Adjust the chain adjustment to the shortest end of the scale then set the loop in place and stretch it out to proper adjustment length. If you got something like a 3/8 (.375) pitch chain instead, it will never fit, take it back and get the right chain.
