Hope I can store that much , afraid I'm addicted to collecting and chopping it. It's space that's the problem . Waiting for wood to make a new store.only been at it a few month but I'm not doing bad .
Yes, space can be a problem. One just has to make the maximum out of the space he has. One thing that can help is to realize that you do not have to stack in single rows. Here is typically how we stack: Most times we stack 3 rows together. Some wonder if the center rows will dry. We've never had a problem with it and the center rows seem to dry about about the same rate. Notice too we just use some saplings we cut to lay down and stack the wood on. If you stack high, then using a longer log occasionally in the stacks to sort of tie the piles together helps. We typically stack to around 4 1/2' high and that typically shrinks down to less than 4' high.
Not fussed if it's 2 inch or 2 feet in diameter I'll take what's going . I can only imagine the small stuff will dry faster but burn even faster still
This is my first year using my pallet method and so far I love it! Looks like a pallet will last me a week in all but the coldest temps. My wife likes the house at 74!
You mentioned that once people knew you had a saw they were eager for you to come cut for them. If you only do the easy, low risk trees and take the wood as part of your payment you will have far more wood than you have today.
I'm guilty of hauling away everything I cut, even down to 1.5"-2" sticks. Work great for kindling or just little short cycles of heat. Throw 'em on coals, count to 10 and throttle the air almost all the way back (works for me anyways) and they won't rage out of control for 10 minutes. They'll burn nice for 15 minutes.
