250/275 a face cord? I often wonder while gathering and processing my own wood how anyone but a large operation with unlimited logs and large processor could make money from selling wood. A face around me goes for 60-90 but at your prices I could see how it would be lucrative.
On CL around here I see similar $200-$225 for what they call a cord, I cannot believe how expensive! Speaking of side of the road, I have a through road that was recently redone by the Twp. they put new sewer lines in, repaved it, made Rd. a little wider, etc... Anyways its got woods on each side. Man there are tons of dropped trees just laying there, got to be at least 10-15 good sized oaks, pine, & maples. Of course that area belongs to the Twp I do not know the penalty for getting caught and I do not want to break the law but man its hard to drive by it all the time just sitting and rotting.
We are talking a face cord, or a rick or 8x4x16-18? That's unbelievable to me. Call your towns DPW and ask, can't hurt. Whenever my village takes trees down they are more than happy to let me take the wood, they will even deliver it to my house. They don't have to pay to dispose of it or chip it up.
And the worst part of it it's not even dry wood. The prices will go up as the winter gets colder. I would call the town or the highway dept and see if you can take that wood. I would try and take it and if anyone says anything always say they were just there for a few days so I didn't know
When I need to buy wood,it's usually in 3-cord orders. I get the cords, green, in the spring. I get it stacked and put away for a few years. The 3cord, split, cut to length, and delivered - $525
That's a good price for me as well. I'm sure I'm just dragging the horse out of the glue factory on the whole face cord or proper cord but, NYCountry, where you talking 250-275 for a face?
Wow that's cheap! Will this guy deliver to Carver for this price? I buy 3 cords a year at $200.00 per cord which is a good price..
Crazy. A lot of the people that buy it probably just want some for ambiance fires I would bet. I used to work in Putnam county, everything was super pricey compared to upstate. Can't find delis like they have down there though, delicious!
I agree all fireplace fires, everything is so over priced up here. The delis are good. Some really good sandwiches here..
We had some the other day but it's mostly melted off. Temps are dropping like a rock tonight though... It's warm inside though, What's it like out your way?
