I dont know of a permanent hookup is necessary. You will get the hang of it soon enough, just like the urge to clean the stove all the time goes away so will looking at the gauge.

you really don't need it permanent, and any cheap car vacuum hose is suitable.I have run mine mostly hooked up for bbetter than 2 years(but I fix stoves part time)and looking into the glass you will learn(for your install) very quickly. But was fine to watch, for a while.

Don't go bursting my bubble. I bought a gauge and I'm gonna look at it. Need something to do while sipping beer. I want the copper tube so I can keep it tight and not noticeable from the front. The test port is inbetween the door and ash door right in the front.

cool but you can do what stove techs do,hook it inline with the vacuum sensor. The test port was mainly for stove inserts.

I like that idea. I will have to pull the side panel and take a look. Thanks.

Just reading the service manual and it says the vacuum switch will have a higher reading than the port in the front of the stove.

Cool, never seen that in a stove manual, but makes perfect sense, most stoves vacuum sensors cut auger at/around .17.

So you do a little figuring-and there you go!Will say harmans seem to be the same vac readings, but harmans seem to have higher vac, maybe because being a bottom fed stove.

If you know someone getting rid of a mini (dorm style) fridge, the tubing coming off the air compressor should be just about right size. (Will keep a lookout @ the town dump for you, they show up pretty regularly.)

Went down to the autoparts store. 1/8 copper for running oil pressure gauges. $12 for 6 feet of tubing and some fittings. Just haven't gotten around to hooking it up.

Cool, that's a decent price for the tubing vs. this area - would love to see a pic when it's all hooked up, good luck w/ the project.

Have you checked Autozone, if you have them. The price should be the same.

well, it IS a Harman......when I got home the other day, my 18 year old P61, after it telling me how wonderful I looked, I told it to clean itself after it finished vacuuming the living room and cleaning the toilets, then it picked the latest stock picks for me, all the while playing my favorite Lithuanian Christmas carols! I think I scheduled a backrub for later with it.....need to check that.....:D

Just hooked up a thermostat to the Mini. Picked the Lux TX500U after researching this forum. Made the mistake of buying an 24vac thermostat earlier. Oh well. The new one works great in the hi/lo.
