Put the cd in, plug in the MP3/Ipod, and transfer via file explorer. It's very easy. Unless the system doesn't recognize the unit.
mp3 players work like that, but I'm pretty sure you need itunes on your computer to transfer music to it. I've always ripped the CD's into mp3's, then you can move the mp3 files into itunes and then transfer onto the ipod.
I think you're right....if it's an Ipod. It's been a while, but I think other players need music in Mp3 format....yes? Good idea to rip first.
You do not need itunes (or an account)to transfer to mp3. If you have an ipod though, you'll want it to transfer to the player itself. Windows media player will "rip", or convert and transfer to your computer... If you don't know much about mp3, the larger the bitrate #, the better the file will sound. But it will also take up more space. Which isn't much of an issue these days. Don't go lower than 192.
When you insert your CD and open media player, you will see the "rip" option and "rip settings". Drop down to the "audio quality" tab and adjust it to 192 @ the least. If you are a discriminating listener at all, go 256 or 320. Rip all the songs you want in a place you can remember (my music folder). Then you can simply drag and drop if you are using anything except and apple product. Then you are going to want itunes.
I use a DNLA server to serve Audio files: 6309 Video files: 386 Image files: 2791 and various clients to play them. Both of my smart TVs play them, as does 'blows Media mangler, and the 'zon tablets, and my Android TV box. Not to mention a six pack or so of Linux apps. Who need iTunes. I use k3b to rip into multiple audio formats and Makemkv for the video. I can use a very flexible transcoder to go between various formats
