BigPapi congratulations on the up and coming future stacker! Hope mamma has a good delivery. A new addition to the family is a magical time for sure!!

Were a mild 28f/-2c but the stove has been going for a few days now. It was 21f/-6 this morning. Ive had lodgepole pine, doug fir and spruce in the stove today. Im burning down a few coals now to do a larch over night burn shortly (its always larch). We are expecting lows around -7.5f/-22c next week so the stove will be choochin good then!

Snow and upper 20's. Just a touch of breeze and some nice oak maple going in the OWB this dark morning.

No fire this morning, sitting at astound 40°, with heavy rain. It really poured last night.

Well it's 43 degrees outside and all the snow is gone. We had our winter last week and glad to see spring is finally back. Going to put up the swimming pool this weekend and get the lawn tractor ready for another long hot summer.........

After the heavy rains last night and the temps at 45 this morning we just have patches of the white stuff hanging around.

Nothing in the wood stove this morning.

Thats a bummer. Do you cover your stacks that are used for this winter?

Im thinking Saturday for a fishing trip on the river with my 11 year old son. At least it will be only a few degrees c below freezing but will be 20c colder a few days later! also once it gets cold we have lots of ice chunks floating down the river before it freezes over.

Yes, just a tarp roof system that I'll keep up with when the snow flies. This spring/ summer the wood shed will go up. :)

I use tarps for top covering as well as plywood. I have a few racks with 2 x 4 sides and plywood tops that are much better than the tarps but its hard to construct that on 35 foot runs. A wood shed would be great. I look forward to seeing pics of the construction!

37 outside. Burning elm in the quadrafire. It's nice and warm in here, and the furnace hasn't turned on yet.

Wish I could say the same thing. I had a long day today away from the house so let the fire go out. Its -1c I think and the furnace was running when I came home. Ive just started a top down fire and will load er up with pine or fir in a bit and then larch around 11 pm. Never burned elm. Wish I had more selection out here.

Bound to hit sometime! It's already messing with our heads, so warm and yet dark so soon. The little wood reactor is ready to stretch it's legs any day now.:)

Kind of a sloppy wet lazy snow that has been falling for the last 24 hrs or so. Most of it will melt, maybe 2-3 accumulation so far. With the breeze, it feels like it is in the upper teens.

More oak into the OWB for warm house and hot water.
