Starting to think open face fireplaces ARE USELESS

    For heat generated by wood, an insert or stove is the only way to go.

    California is a huge state, with huge differences in the climates in that state. In San Diego, yeah an open FP would be just fine and actually heat. Up near Mt Shasta, it would be as inefficient as it would be for us northern folks.
