Not the biggest buck I have ever shot but this guy was one of the most satisfying! I have hunted so much this year and only seen really small bucks ranging from spikes to small eights and large 6 points. I have a couple years of trail camera pictures of this buck on my property and hadn't really seen him in person but once or twice and tonight he came and gave me a quartering away shot at about 24 yards. He only went about 40 yards before piling up and it was all over less than a minute after I let the arrow fly. Really happy I was able to shoot him with my bow! IMG_8175.JPG

Congrats! You have to love it when there is a history. Passing up on other deer for the chance at a specific deer, that's hunting

Thanks, By Ohio standards he isn't a monster. I was looking back over trail camera pictures of him last night and still cant believe it happened. It was pretty cool to seal the deal on a buck you have watched for a while..

I never was able to pattern this guy and he would show up at the weirdest times and then disappear for a while. About 3 weeks ago I had him at 75 yards chasing a doe for a good half hour and watched him through binoculars.

Nice going. How long will that meat last you? Hard work pays off. Enjoy

Not entirely sure as we usually end up giving meat away to some others who need it.

I did the same with the 8pt i killed a few weeks ago. I really just started running camera's last year (never used them before) and to be able to seal the deal on one that you've been watching and waiting for is so satisfying. I'd been watching him since early summer but he had no rhyme or reason when he would show up. Finally the ladies got him in trouble.

Congrats on a great deer buddy!

Perhaps not by some of the Ohio standards but a danged good buck in almost everybody's book. Of course, it might not make the best magazine article, but who cares! Congratulations Certified.

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with him and the back story makes it so much better. I told friend that he was the one I was after this year but I wasn't sure it would happen.

I worked on boiling the head yesterday and wow what a job that is. I have it about 75-80% of the way done and I think I am going to just wait until the spring and bury whats left.......
