Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed your time with family and friends!

It's been a good Holiday and I'm thankful for family and our many blessings this Holiday week.
I found time to cut some firewood as well, which we all know is a blessing unto itself. ;)

Not much, but every little bit adds up. Found a dead standing red elm, cut a couple small tulip poplars that needed to go and had a huge branch come down from a maple. All added up to just shy of a half cord.

Youngest daughter helped too which is always something to be thankful for.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all. :)

Here's the red elm load. Fit the whole small tree in the Gator...

The finished stack, I think just shy of half a cord....little oak, red elm, tulip and maple.

Inventory... Working on leaves now... Oaks still hanging on to their leaves. Really late this year.

Red elm is something I do not get too often, good stuff for sure.

Nice load. Have only had American elm, is red just as stringy? What are your stacks covered with?

Red is not near as stringy as American elm and higher on the btu's.

As LP said, red is not nearly as stringy as American... I hand split a large red elm a few years back, it made me work for it, but not all that bad.

Stacks are covered with rubber roofing tear offs (EPDM). If you search Craiglist you can occasionally find it for free as I did. Really heavy duty stuff.
