I've posted about our bedroom temps several times over the past two years. With the weather changing, the electric Pelonis heater struggles to keep the temp above 62. Over the past two years I've considered a host of different solutions. My biggest problem is the cost of these options. Right now, we are not in a position to spend $3000-4500.

Our finances are looking better, and by next summer we should be in a position to put in a permanent solution. Yet as I stated our Pelonis heater is struggling.

I came across the Enviro The Mini at a local Fireplace store's website. From what I can tell, it would cost me about $1000 for the unit. We already have a double walled SS chimney in place from when this room was our family room. Installing this unit would be a matter of connecting into the existing chimney and putting in a fresh air supply.

Does anyone own this unit and have any recommendations?

    Thank you

I think those units are just ok from what I have read. Replacement parts can be expensive. If I were you, I would check out the refurbished units at amfmenergy.
I bought one, super good service from them and Mike at englander is a member here. Full factory warranty. Reasonable parts prices.

I seen the mini in action and had my mitts on a couple. Good little stoves and the $1K is a deal IMHO. Pretty easy to service and throw a good amount of heat for its size. I seen them heat small 3 season cottages(that weren't well insulated) and not break a sweat!!

Yes, That is their biggest draw back. There is a guy on ebay that has some parts reasonable. And I think Don2222 has spare options. We also found a few parts that are universal and work better than OEM(auger motor).

The original model A was trouble some, But the model B was much more reliable. As long as its newer than 2010(assuming at the price its a used unit) it should be a B model. It should have a date and model under the hopper lid. Model B has a better designed burnpot and handles fuels to near 0.08% ash content. A high ash burn liner is also available for junk pellets.

Only thing I would be concerned with the unit is the ignitor. Definetely would run hi/lo to extend its life. Pretty sure there is an aftermarket solution to the high priced OEM ignitor as well. Should be able to source one from grainger.

Most if not all manufacturers say pellet stoves can't be installed in bedrooms

According to local code, I could put in a direct vent gas stove, or a wood stove/pellet stove with fresh air supply connector. That does not make it the right solution though.

I know Enviro/Vistaflame doesn't approve their pellet products to be installed in bedrooms. Even if local building code says it's ok if its against the manufacturers approved install if an issue arises your insurance company will not be so cool.

I don't care WHAT local code says you "could" do......I would NEVER put a stove in the bedroom. You could end up asleep forever.

Dunno how big the room is, but adding a Warm Mist Humidifier, in addition to the electric heater, may provide some additional comfort.. It does here. We use inexpensive Sunbeam warm mist humidifiers throughout the house, cost 20-25 dollars each at Walmart.

Was talking w/ a neighbor the other week, he said they switched over to (2) infrared cabinet heaters, plus a warm mist humidifier, they liked the warmth provided. Those run 100 - 150 +/- depending on model and sale.

I had finally closed the garage recently. When I needed to get in, the bloody clicker would not work. I bought a new battery hoping that was the problem. Sure enough it was not that simple.

The Pelonis heater we had tripped the breaker. The thoughts of sending in the smallest member of the family through the small basement style window in the read did not sit well with me. It would be rather dangerous due to the amount of clutter in our garage.

Lucky for me, my generator is still sitting outside from the threat of the last hurricane with two male to male power cords. Yes I know that is dangerous. Anyhow, since the garage is on it's own box, I decided to try and back feed electricity to the garage door opener. Turned out I had plugged into the wrong side of the box. I moved the cable to another plug in the room, and viola, it worked. It took sometime as the clicker we have is apparently not in good shape. Since then, I've left it open until I can get a new clicker working. Unfortunately time has not been in my favor of late. Garage door still open.

This morning with outside temps at 32, our bedroom was at 56 degrees with the Delongi heater running. Tonight I am going to get the garage door opener programmed and close that door. That should help some. Outside of that, I thought about an electric blanket for the bed., but that would be a waste of money as our comforter keeps our bed warm. It's just the initial shock of getting into the bed.

Well,a direct vent ng or propane heater is perfectly safe in bedroom.A pellet stove is not a sealed device,as there is a gap/opening at the combustion blower shaft.A direct vent heater, such as an empire, with a pilot, will still give good heat in power outage, just not as efficient as an electronic unit.An older "wire element" electric heater is just as efficient as any newfangled "energy saver" pelonis, disc, etc heater, and puts out hotter temps instantly, doesnt take much time, but newer ones are safer.Electric heaters are all inherently 100% efficient. Also, used to use an elc. blanket,to warm bed, before getting in,then, years ago, discovered cheap flannel sheets. They do not last long, but do not cost much, and are not like climbing into satin or egyptian connon sheets, where you will freeze your butt!

Thanks for the welcome back, been working like a dog and did a lot of snowboarding last winter. I just sold my house and bought another one in southwest Colorado and I'm about to start a welding business so life has been busy but good! Glad to see you guys all still kicking!

I think I'm going to a little bit of a lot of things like plowing, firewood, servicing stoves, sweeps but the main goal is to build up my welding business and just do that eventually. I kind of like working on the ground now, guess I'm spoiled lol. I've been building stuff like this for 2 years now and did it for a while back in my younger years and I've always enjoyed it so I'm going to run with it. I got a good sized garage now, 2 welders and a good number of other power tools so I'm off to a good start. I will try to mainly focus on steel/wood furniture with high quality in mind but I'll take handrail jobs etc. as needed as well. Thanks for wishing me good luck! 20151110_124819.jpg 20160127_093319.jpg 20160408_091357.jpg
