Real nice work foragefarmer! Wish I could get my hands on some oak like that! Too bad about the knots on the one side, but that's just how it is with them open grown trees I think. How many sharp chains ya go through? ;) Real nice finish on those too!

Your right about that! I was stacking and stickering everything up this morning, but I can't get the 16/4 slab off and onto the the top of the stack by myself.

It is funny how one persons taste can be so polar opposite to another's. Those are the slabs I am most excited about. I cut them 8/4 to try to reduce movement and they are at the bottom of the stack to put the most weight on them. Yeah they are going to take a fair amount of epoxy and will be harder to work but they have a lot of character. Fingers crossed on them turning out well.

I don't swap chains. I hand sharpened twice.

Oh hey, don't get me wrong, I think they'd make some great tops. I ended up with a lot of pieces like that from the walnut at my sisters. It just limits what you can do with them to some degree, that's all. If I needed parts for legs or something, I probably wouldn't take them out of a piece like that, as there could be a lot of waste.

From what I've seen with mine, which look very similar to yours, movement shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Sorry if I sounded critical, guess I have a habit of that.

You didn't sound critical and I hope I didn't sound defensive because that wasn't my intent. It was just an observation. A wrong one it would seem.

I cut them in the hopes it would yield some nice tops.
