Anyone play with these trains? We found a set in the back of the closet last Christmas break and my son loved it. This year for his gift I am thinking about making him a fold down train table up in my loft so the train can be permanently set up and decorated. Looking for ideas, and maybe some extra cars and model trees, buildings, etc.

Those can be fun Adam. I've seen some really nice layouts and if I had the room I'd be tempted to build something and have some fun with them.
I used to have a nice layout before we moved mostly HO some N but that was just to darn small for me to mess with . It's a heck of a fun hobby and I can't wait til my little guy is a bit older so we can build up a new layout

Grizzly Adam I use to love ho trains as a kid. When my boys were young, I tried to get them interested but they never caught the bug. I might have some accessories around here. if I find them I will try to bring them with me when I come. Have fun!
Only HO Train I ever heard of was when I was a kid my uncle was in the Navy . He told me one time they went to port in Singapore and within an hour he was on the HO Train ! True story .
I'll see what I still have boxed up, Griz- I know I have a few buildings my brother and I put together as kids, and they're mostly in good repair. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow between turkey sessions and PM them to you. It would do me proud to see them used by such a fine member as yourself! But if schlot is stopping by- put 'em up, 'cos he might try to swipe 'em J/k schlottah!
I set the train up today, found a piece of plywood big enough for the track. I have two firehouses and no other buildings, schlot says they must have burned down. Got a diesel engine, a grandma's cookies car, an oil tanker, a regular cargo car and a red caboose. I took some sandpaper to the track and fixed the wheels on the cargo car and it took off. I did some repairs to the bigger of the two fire stations as well. Next I need to get some extruder foam to put between the track and the plywood and I can start permanently mounting it!
Very cool getting her running that's always a good feeling! As for spiking down the track take a look at the cork roadbed that's out there see what you think.
Awesome! Some straight track will be a big help, I have almost all curves! Crossing arms was something I really wanted to add because he always seem to be intrigued by them, and so is one of my disabled friends. And a coal car is something he doesn't have!
Beauty....possibly next week I can make it up "yonder" with the goods to make the drop off...hey that sounds like a spy movie or something.
