One of the other positives of the three year plan is if life gets in the way for a year, your still ahead of the game. Cause you you never know when a new job happens, injury or something else gets in the way of wood processing...

I'll have to get some more recent ones....

Since I ran drainage pipe in the ditch and filled it in, I added an additional 11.5' x 11.5' to the end of the stack. I'm almost done fill g it up....

The stack is now across this pipe...lol

    Thanks Scotty Overkill .

Yes, Scotty and I go back quite a ways. He certainly has done much more than I.

Um, NOOOOOO. You're one of my firewood mentors, and I can't wait to shake your hand someday. If you have a spring GTG this year, you can count on me being there.

Consider yourself invited on April 22, 2017. There have been a few of us guys talking about this already. In addition, DexterDay and Barcroftb are planning on coming here in a couple of weeks to help put up some wood to get ready for the gtg. We hope to have several stacks so plenty of guys can get a chance to run some saws. Of course we'll be splitting too along with eating, drinking and having a ball. Looking forward to seeing you next spring.

    Thanks Dennis.
Again, not sure I can do it next year as FIL is still with us. I'll give it a shot though.

Got a chance to read through the whole article. I have been busy since I posted asking about it. Great article, thanks for taking the time to write and post it.

I have to say this really has turned into a great hobby for me. I like all the toys you get to use as part of the hobby, saw, splitter, moisture meter ect. And I love that the end result keeps the family warm and saves us money.

If I could add anything to the article it would be the hausholden method of stacking wood.

Above is my pile for next year. In the edge on the right is the " burn now" shed.

I have been working like crazy to get next years wood split and stacked while looking for splits dry enough to burn now. I am really looking forward to next year when I will be working soley for the future and do not have to test every split looking for ready ones.

This weekend was awesome. Saturday after breakfast I loaded up the saw and my daughter and the dog joined me. We went up to the upper meadows in search of standing dead. In one day I felled 4 trees, bucked em and filled the pickup, took em home, split and stacked before dark. Filled my ready burn woodshed, one month of heat in one day. To go from standing dead to CSS in a single day was as rewarding as it gets.

Sounds like a great day Handsonautotech especially having your daughter with you. Great that you are getting on the 3 year plan too.

Thank you and thanks for the good article.

My biggest problem I am facing now is where to put the wood. I am running out of flat area's near my house rather fast and may need to move the splitter 200 feet down the drive way.

Making plans. Poor Judy is driving herself nuts. What to eat? I told her to not be fussy; just fix some food. What would you think about some venison?

And if it's just gonna be the few of us? Then just do what you two normally do. Brad and I will just be thankful to be there and help!

I got sometime yesterday to measure out my piles, 3.01 cords so far, I have quite a bit of work ahead of me to get up to 3 years.
