Today is November 16 and we have not yet had to empty any ashes from the stove. I just do not ever remember it being this long in to fall without having to empty ashes by now. But it appears we very soon will be as they are calling for much colder air coming in this weekend. Maybe a bit of white along with it but the big snow is supposed to miss us by a long shot.

Not going to be liking the wind for the next few days though...

It's been a mild Fall around here as well. I'm usually burning 24/7 by late Oct and this year it's just a few take the chill off evening fires. At least I'm saving some wood.

We've burned close to one cord so far. Seems like more than usual, yet it hasn't felt like a cold/raw Fall. Maybe we are keeping it warmer than we typically do.

I've not burned much yet either.

I have emptied the ashes from the stove though, mostly because we bought a new ash bin from home depot. It works well.

    Be careful
just mentioning no cold & snow
could be enough to whip up a "Winter storm"
    LOL

Here, 20s day time, teens at night, the norm for us

Record breaking warm fall here too, only a few fires to supplement the pellet stove so far. Then again 3-5" of snow predicted for tomorrow, hmm.

We've taken out ashes three times so far.

It makes me nervous how warm it has been, I hope the weather man is right about the snow. Forrest fire hazard is huge in CO right now.

Emptied ash last week. Probably burned a little over a face cord so far. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be 70*

Same here in Massachusetts. Warmer than usual. I've had the Absolute going a bit just to tinker with it, and I got the Fireview going one night as it really got that cold and the warmth was nice. But that's about it. Haven't made a dent in the first cord.

Ok we have awakened the winter curse. I wonder now if I will have enough wood to counter the curse.

I was thinking about this the other night on the way in from stacking, "it sure would be a waste to have all this wood and then not burn it"

The storm will be here by sunrise but it sounds like it we are on the southern edge. The Daks will get the brunt of the storm, 50 mph wind, 4" - 8" of snow. Not bad but visibility will be next to nothing.

Last year I burned just over 2 cords IIRC.

Unless it gets super cold the rest of this burning season, it'll be about the same because of the mild Fall we've had here. Heck; I've not even burned 3 full wheel barrows of wood yet.............1 wheel barrow will get me 2 days of burning 24/7 on average.

I did remove ash from my 13NC yesterday though...............My 1st 2 fires this burning season were pallet wood full of nails.................just wanted all the nails out of there.
