What's in the hopper?

I leave mine dirty. Seems to work OK.

 

Did that last year and had no issues.

 

Yeah till fall came and I really wished I had done it in the spring.

I leave mine running and have no moisture problems.

 

Maine Wood Pellets, using stash from last year and the ash is low, heat good and the only minor issue is clinkers that form more so than other pellets I have used, so the Pittsburgh pry bar gets a workout every few days.

Was clinkers common last year for those? I know I used several bags but dont remember that.

 

I burned a lot of them and didn't have a problem with clinkers, but then again I never have. I just get the speed bump.

 

Yeah, not terrible but odd there is hardly any ash but yet speed bumps, not clinkers, as I originally wrote. No biggie, got them for $175/ton from a private party in southern Maine.

 

Don't matter what you pay or what flavor you roast Harman make speed bump .

 

Yes. Some flavors form that bump much faster than others. You see that too?

 

Honestly I don't know , I may have become a bit lax in the daily scrapping of the pot This season has been a steady diet of Softies and there is a bump it may be that I don't run my stoves on high , no need to, to stay comfy warm .

As J said at 175/ton...what speed bump.

That speed bump is common for pretty much all Harmans (and maybe all bottom feeders?). Some pellets will give more than others. No issue at all, just more of a buildup (carbon?) that gets cleaned when you scrape the burn pot

To all the nay sayers, its something that Harman built in so you think you have something to do like the other stoves that require more maintenance

 

Much prefer the speed bump in the P43 over the clinkers that the Hastings had
