I went to the Harman web site and watched three videos about their stove. One was specific about how how to run the stove, another how to do a good cleaning after every ton. Very well done. I think I'll watch it a few more times to make sure I catch all the points. Looks like I'll need about five inches of dura vent and some high temp silicon for the tradition to the new stove. Not sure if I want to add a short splice or just replace with a longer pipe.

Just my 2 cents, but I think I would replace with a longer pipe.

I know cost is a big issue with the install because of fixed income. But one pipe would eliminate any troubles and headaches of leaks down the road.

Your nephew seems to be pretty knowledgeable, so if he thinks it will be o.k. and have no leaks and not pose problems down the road? Then short pipe.

But like Will above. My cote is one long one.

Harman has dealer support, an owner's manual, a dvd with the purchase of a stove, and website for information. With all these resources how can you not have a stove running in tip-top shape? Please give a moment of your time, turn toward Halifax, Pa at sunrise and sunset to show support. Thanks You
