I woke up feeling a bit cool today but when I walked into the kitchen I knew why. SWMBO had left the sliding glass door to the back deck open over night. Last night's low was about 55ºF, not even close to needing artificial heat yet.

Yeah thats warm. Same here. Weve been having highs of 10-13 but a good frost in the mornings. The sun is going behind the mountains here by around 3;30 so its only a matter of time before the big freeze comes eh? Bears are still out. Winter will come soon but Im ok with it waiting a bit. I still have to put the Christmas lights back up and wouldnt mind another truck load of standing dead lodgepole before the snow locks me out of the bush.

36 'merican out of doors, threw an armload of wood in the boiler yesterday which stihl had a few nice chunks of wood and a belly of charcoal .
These armloads lasting 24 hours or more are pretty nice, the mid 60's daytime temps won't last long and then I'll be feeding that greedy hungry beast more than an armload!!

    Nice!
An old high school buddy showed up in the coffee shop the other morning and announced he was giving me a chainsaw that he doesn't use any longer. He quit burning wood awhile ago, so.....Don't know what brand-only said it was a 14" bar. Something to keep at the cottage, I guess.

In the upper 30's this morning.

You know, by now I shouldn't be surprised......that forecast low of 43 turned into 35 real degrees by this morning. Of course the house was cooler than it would have been if the forecast was correct.
Fire is the great equalizer. :)
House is already 2 deg. warmer.:coffee:

Didn't look at the temp when I got up but there was a blanket of heavy frost. Shorts and uglies in the TR-18. Beautiful day in store. Not a cloud in the sky .
Outdoor chores and maintenance on the todo list.

Made the mistake of adding 3 more splits after the original fire burned down........had to open some windows. :picard:
It was still 36 out when I did it. I could have just coasted on the heat from the first fire though. It's now about 63 OAT and sunny.
When is shoulder season over? :headbang::rofl:

The good stove I got under control....the insulation thing still isn't where it needs to be.
Might be something to do this winter.

I am wondering the same thing. Forecast for tomorrow is 72 which would break a record set back in 2001. It was 71 today and the wife had a couple of windows open along with the patio door. Amazing how warm the house can get when you burn junk, punky wood.

Nothing wrong with a little fresh air and a warm house but, when you make that mistake at night you end up sleeping in the buff with no blankets:D

I dont really mind when I have to do this as it gives you some nice fresh air in the house.
