I got my new-to-me Huskee 22 ton splitter in January
    KIMG0169.jpg
    it worked great.
    KIMG0170.jpg

But I quickly found out it needed some mods.

    First was the log table.

Worked great...except...It didn't take long to figure out the logs would vibrate forward and fall off the table and land on the oil tank and sometimes bounce onto the the oil filter. (Sound familiar Eric VW ?)

So it needed 2 little mods...a filter guard welded to the oil tank.

And a stop on the end of the table to keep the logs from sliding off. (angle iron)

Then I found with larger logs that leaving half a round on the log table was a little cumbersome and would get in the way while trying to split the first half. So over the last year I found that the oil tank on the right side made a good place to set half of a round while I split the other half. Worked ok but the oil tank is a little narrow on top so sometimes I'd need to keep my leg against it or it would fall on my foot.
Another mod was needed. Another log table to store half a round.

    Perfect! :dex:
    And just the right height

I'm thinking a drink holder would come in handy next...;)

I will quite often pull the splitter out with the quad and leave it hooked up while I split for just a short time.
The ball is very low on the quad so I usually just pull the back tires up an a couple pieces of wood to get the splitter level.
Next up will be a long raised ball mount for the quad.

    So, FHC.
    Let's see your splitter mods.

We are always looking to save a little time or keep from bending over so much.
What do you have that saves you?
What mod would you like ?

Lets build the perfect splitter together!

After throwing some heavy rounds up on the log table I noticed the table was getting loose.
Turns out the bolt that was threaded up into the log cradle style beam had broken off.

Another mod was needed to strengthen the table.
A piece of flat metal was added from the table down to the lower flange of the beam.

Only mod I've done lately is Mark my Beam, so I can catch it and not split up a round that is to long
A stroke limiter could definitely save you some time
I noticed my table bending a little bit it could use some reinforcements on the ends

One could always just sit-n-split without ever lifting the rounds :D

I was thinking about that also.
Need to quit fooling around and get a paint marker to put some permanent marks on the beam...:emb:

That's what I did, used paint marker, cleaned it up with paint thinner first, put a square on it and marked it
