Some people just don't get it. I actually have people come over to feel the heat from the stove. They keep saying, wish I had one. I tell them go get one and explain what is needed to keep one going all winter. then they don't want one.lol that dial on the wall is a whole lot easier.

I would take it as a compliment, truly smart people have knowledge of technology and primitive ways.

Primitive is a stupid way to describe someone who burns wood IMHO.......I mean the majority of us here are anything but primitive with our saw collections, electricity, running water, and television sets.......

It's not true Nate. I just say it to mess with their minds. I've said it to at least 5 or 6 people over the last few years and not one of them really knew enough about the topic to keep the conversation going. Was hoping for a nice debate since I couldn't run my business without a truck to tow with. Average MPG is 16.5 on winter fuel and 18-19 on summer fuel.

You know we primitive people will be the ones who will be expected to support those less primitive people when their resources fail them. I doubt it will be a matter of asking.

Wonder how far out of the cities they'd get if "the switch" was turned off? Prolly won't make it to my house… and Maine's got too many bears & wolves & monster bull moose that'll eat all flatlanders anyway…

A local farmers wife was telling a friend that they were getting some of their cows bred. The reply was why don't you give them all bread!:)

I hear that. I've been fortunate enough for the last six years to buy my eggs from a place where I can actually SEE the chickens that laid the eggs.

Yes you were - ha ha ha

Reminds me of the fellow who walked in a diner and asked for the special of the day. The server replied cow tongue soup. The fellow said that he wasn't going to eat anything from the mouth of a cow and he just wanted a couple of eggs.

I love primitive - procreation is a primitive form of trying to stay warm right? Wouldn't be here without it and who would split the worlds wood?

Havent been called primitive and prolly wood never happen here. I'd guess 1/3 of the population or better burns wood.
I have had people that say burning wood would take up too much of their free time. These are usually the people that work 40 hours a week. I probably average 65 hours a week and still manage to put up 5-7 cord a year so I don't get their reasoning.

I haven't noticed much difference in store eggs and eggs from my chickens in all honesty. Taste and look just the same.
I had a few ducks that laid eggs, those were nice. 3 or 4 made a decent omelet, instead of 1/2 a dozen chicken eggs.
