I just took a nasty fall with an armload of wood. I need to clean up around the stacks. I stepped on a small log and it roll under my foot and I could do nothing but just go down. Now I am hurting; twisted my back, fell on my right side, so arm, leg, and back. Just goes to show the importance of keeping the area clear.
Morning will tell. Just shows you need the keep the woodshed area clean; I kept meaning to clean up. I am off to bed; will see you folks in the morning.
Hope youre feeling better soon. In the morning you will be stiff but hopefully a few bruises is all that you have to tend with. Maybe a walk might loosen things up. Be safe out there!
I bet if we had a dollar for every time someone stepped on a roller, it would pay for a nice vacation! Take it easy until you know it's just lumps n bumps.
Fear not Kimberly, by the time you get to be my age, falling will seem more normal. Yes, it can make you hurt sometimes for a long time but sometimes it seems to be a price we sometimes have to pay, albeit not so fun. Hope you heal quickly.
I won't forget last year when I went out onto my deck to get an armload of wood..................after about the 6th split, one decides to shift and I couldn't catch it.................and with my luck, guess where it decides to fall????? Right square onto my right big toe!!!!!! I didn't have shoes or boots on, only my socks. Long story short; hopped back into the house cursing the whole way and about 4 months later, the toe nail finally fell off.
Yep I agree I am always picking up small pieces around my splitting and cutting area. I have a big pile that I throw them into along with loose bark. It is just about time to haul it to the local compost.
I have used some in my fire pit but the bark don't burn worth a crap. So I take it all to the compost and they like it.
