Snow this morning turning to sleet and rain. Temps dropped from 35° to 32°. My outside thermometer is reading 33° at 2pm. Coldest day of the season.

The first slate-colored juncos showed up under the feeder today. A sure sign winter is on the way.

Do you have them year round, or is their summer range north of you?

Weather was on its way to wet and cold this morning. So I spent the first two hours cleaning up the barn construction site and getting more stuff out of my driveway.

Then we went to measuring and figuring out how to build the gable wall center section, up on the loft floor. We figured it out, brought all the tools and lumber up and got started. It was cool out, and when the wind blew, cold. But we got it layed out and started cutting. Then it was lunch time. And we got started again and then the snow started, and more wind. It was too wet and nasty. So we quit. Until another day....

I know you want to get r dun but... good move waiting until you have good conditions Gas. Wind can, and if given a chance, will, ruin your day of putting up the high stuff. Be safe...

The temp went from 32 to 36 since I came in from burning, we'll have another Cherry overnight fire.

We'll put more wood in tomorrow and I expect the tractor back with the backhoe on it so I'll be pulling stumps tomorrow or Saturday.

We've had three accidents today just south of us on the main state road that runs through our town, the wet snow was freezing on.

The bat phone (work) rang shortly after 4AM this morning...pretty much just to tell me my day is both shot and going to suck hard today. So far it hasn't been the case. So, thanks?
