Beta-tested and loved the AS for a few months last last winter, and just got an IS to replace the beta... and love it so far.

Some decent numbers to bring to Lebanon with. I'm sure it's a little higher with some folks who are quiet right now. Looking forward to seeing the WS crew in the morning. Thanks for everyone who participated in the poll.

My wife and I will be there tomorrow- sorry for the late notice but with the house in shambles (the condition, not the 'state of shambles' which is all over the US at the moment). No contractors tomorrow though so we are free for the day.... See you folks there.

If you have the hearth for an IS and have the heating needs of the BIG BOX the IS is the Cats Meow. Although I also have two good friends who own Progress Hybrids and those Big Mamas pump out Big Heat all day long and night time too. :)

The IS was more stove than I needed but the AS is perfect. I just love having a box big enough to fit 18+ hours worth of wood into even in the dead of deep winter. Especially as I also maintain my Fireview in the living room and so it's nice that the AS isn't a high maintenance stove that I need to feed at the crack of dawn. The Fv isn't either and I like it that way! :)

It was great being there yesterday. Woodstock put on a very nice event, and always it is very pleasant and quite a surprise for me to simply walk through the entire facility and see just about everything- something most companies just would not allow. The Woodstock folk are unusually friendly, seem quite happy and are very accommodating to all customer (and non- customer) needs and wants, always willing to take whatever time is needed to explain, show, answer questions, etc. A big thanks to Tom and the entire crew and company for putting on such a nice even with absolutely zero selling pressure (it does not even seem to be on their mind to see anyone anything, which is GREAT IMO, besides, their products sell themselves it seems).

And it was great finally meeting a few people that I really already 'knew' from this forum but had never actually met in the fles..... er, in person (Easy Boys!).

Did anyone catch that Ideal with the glass top over the catalytic combustor and no radiator? I spoke with Jamie more than two years ago about that idea and am still quite interested in it- my thinking is that the glass should radiate a tremendous amount of catalyst heat into the room the stove sits in without having to go through three pieces of steel; direct IR radiation would be much more efficient. I spoke briefly with Lauren about it and she said that they had tried it to view the combustor rather than expecting an increase in efficiency but found the glass got dirty pretty quickly. I have an idea to keep the glass clean, and of course the stove top would need something like a fine, steel grate over the glass 'cause obviously, sooner or later, someone would break the glass and then the fire would be in the room with us.... like our ancestors, and that is 'a bad thing' of course. And using glass would eliminate the problems with the radiators we have been having because it just would not be there. But I am kind of stuck on the idea and may approach Lauren or Tom about it again. I think it would be fantastic to see a fire or two with the combustor runnning 1,200F +, looking at it through a piece of 'glass'.

Research and Destroy? Yep, I could do that.... they would need a beefier sprinkler system for sure. :)

Great get- together, great job by Woodstock and great to meet some of the people I have sort of 'gotten to know' here on the forum. My thanks to Tom and the whole Woodstock team for putting that open house on in the first place and it is always great to wander around the actual factory floor and see how things are done, made and shipped.

Anybody happen to notice that Ideal Steel with the glass in place of the top plate? I had that idea when I first got the stove and spoke with Jamie about it: he said that they had spoken to the glass manufacturer and the material should be able to take the heat but of course mechanical damage was a consideration. Nothing that a steel screen over the top would not fix though, at least IMO. I spoke with Lauren beiefly about that glass and she said they were trying it to see if they could make the actual combustor visible but the glass got dirty so it did not work out for them but my idea was always about efficiency; I think the stove would produce more heat if the radiator were removed and the infrared were allowed to radiate without having to transfer through three steel plates first. And keeping the glass clean should be quite easy.... an interesting idea, at least to me, and I would love to try that set- up on my own stove.
