Front came through last night with 70 mph winds and tornado warnings. No twisters but trees down everywhere, and some big ones at that. Oaks, cherry and of course dead standing ash. Funny thing, nothing fell on my 6 acres!

When I went down Richwood road they were using some plows to push trees off the road. Parts of Boone County got pretty beat up. I don't know how we missed loosing a bunch of dead ash trees. Like Agent 86 said: "Missed us by that much!"
I seen a picture today from a co worker that the top of the Florence tower leaning. Crazy storm for this time of year
I was sleeping but my BIL told me it got real windy for a short time when the front came through. No damage from that but previously, when the ground was soggy from rain for so long, we had a Red Oak blow down a couple hundred feet behind the house. It ripped a branch off a big White, took out a small White, and ripped bark off a small Pignut. Hate to lose good trees but at least I get some primo wood outta the deal. And it's real close to where I will stack it. Ripped-off White branch and snapped-off small White Uprooted Red Red above, White below
I hate those uprooted trees. Very dangerous. They spring back up when you least expect it. Try to cut the root off and that springs back into the hole. Big oak fell that way. Left it for two years before going to cut the root off. That way, the spring back was gone. The root ball just stayed there, upright. The wood was easy to manage after that.
We've gotten those horrendous winds all day today, it's still howling outside. Stay safe buddy......oh, and I have saws.....will travel for wood.....
