Got a text from my daughter, said they're taking out a bunch of trees along her Road, said one across the street was huge. Not far away about 8-10 mile I assume they are going to chip up the brush and leave the rest lay, that's what they usually do around here, Good thing is that kind of stuff is right by the road, bad thing is you have to go ask the homeowners first. Probably get some good wood out of it though, I have picked up quite a bit of power company droppings I found on CL
Yeah, power company has been all over my part of the world trimming rights-of-way. A couple weeks ago, a tree (oak) in front of our property was tagged with a red ribbon, which I assume means that something is going to be taken off of it. I don't know if they're just going to take a branch off that extends over the line running to my house and the neighbor's, or whether they want the whole tree to come down. Good think my wife is home during the days... she can watch and see what happens. Plus, if the whole tree comes down, that'll be the best score ever... won't have to ask the property owner for permission!
Yeah they're taking whole trees down over there. Daughter has a tee in her yard, limbs sitting right on the freaking power line, I'm assuming they are going to take that out but, I don't know
The power company came through here a few months ago... Living in a rural area, they don't have to worry much about ruining lawns... So they took a skid loader with a forestry mulcher down the right of way. There was not much over 4", since about 8 years ago there was a large ice storm that decimated most of the trees close to a power line.
I could speed up my snatch and grab just dragging it over to my daughter's house and stacking it. Maybe if my daughter and her hubby get set up with some wood they will repair their stove and use it more I gave them wood before but with their busy lives they don't mess with it much.
Daughter said she would snap some pics of the wood and leaves on the ground. A lot of maples out there I have not seen any willow out there, but if it is Cottonwood it can lay there and rot, got a half a cord of that, that's enough. We will see
