The ignition coil module on my 270 crapped out today. I've come to find that it is a common problem. The other problem is finding a coil. Called around to the dealers and no one has it. They all said they would have to order it, but Stihl is moving their warehouse this week and they won't get it until next week. Being I can't find one, I don't even know if Stihl will have one. Also, they're $85. Any suggestions, cross fit or aftermarket unit for it? Thanks.
I would find an IPL (illustrated parts list), get the p/n of the ignition module, and search the Internet on that p/n. There's a reason stihl wants to confine you to getting parts from stihl dealers. Wanna guess? A year or so back, bud had such module die on an 029. Local stihl dealer quoted $120. Got one from a guy in KS for $14. 'Nuff said.
I tried that too . Even eBay didn't have one. All the used ones I found were sold already. I'll still keep looking. Thanks.
Unfortunately not. A few of them look alike but there is supposed to be variable timing with this coil. The only one that is the same is the coil from an MS 280. Just as rare from what I see.
I think you are missing the last set of digits. I found 11334001350 which if true is the same coil as the 340 and 360.
In the UK it is showing the 1133 400 1350 is the fit for the 270c, indicating it should work. Going to explore this route. Thanks again, Grizz.
I checked and the one for the 340-360 is a different one. I'll have to probably wait till next week to find out.
