Yea....... thats my thoughts on it. The T5 should do the trick. A nice lady at my job has a kiln her husband works with, so ill be buying a couple cords it looks. I should get a decent price.

That would be awesome....You really need good wood and a wood stove to keep you and yours and Maple warm when winter acts up there...And Saucy too

The stack temp would go very high even with air all the way down.. Yes that could cause the stove to be cooler I would imagine.. The problem is caused by the primary air tube under the plate at the front of the stove would always allow air probably for EPA reasons..

Most of the EPA stoves are made that way, non cat anyway, no one else reported having the same issues.
Did not make a difference as far as the setting of the primary air, it had high flue temps and low stove top accross the board.
I told this to many people, been running a wood stove a long time and I know when something is not right, first fire in the Drolet told me it was going to work correctly.

I run a PE T5 and it heats my 1600 sq ft rancher just fine. On the longest coldest nights, +/- single digits F, I wish it had just a little bigger firebox, probably because I love to sleep in late on weekends. The 2.5 cu ft box and cat on the WS AS should definitely provide longer burns without going up to a full 3 cu. ft stove. The T5 and 27's have the exact same firebox, just different exterior (sheet metal vs. cast iron), so performance should be pretty similar (?). The Summit series has a slightly different air management system they call "Extended Burn Technology." I have no idea of this really does anything or is just a gimmick. I have to say I'm surprised at the negative feedback on the PE's here. It is usually virtually impossible to find people who have anything bad to say about them.

You must not be looking hard enough, a lot of people had problems with welds and one person has a warped baffle which is a fairly new thread. Several people were not happy with PE's handling of the problems either.
Mine did not work and no one and I mean no one could give me any idea what was wrong.

I have an Avalon stove offered to me for free. Looks to be in good shape, besides for needing some new brick and a paint & brass makeover.......

Not the biggest firebox, but would do for now. Any experience with this stove? I believe lopi is made by the same mfgr

I believe thewoodlands burns a Lopi and likes it.. My BILin NH has 2 Lopi's and likes them.. The only problem is some sort of small clip can fall out which I think holds the tubes but I am not sure about that..

I like that idea, if you are selling the stoves, you need to be experienced with them. I would hope you get to run at least one model of every brand you are selling. As a buyer, I always appreciate when someone is speaking from experience.

I like the idea of having a stove that does not need electricity in any way. Where you are living has a history of heavy snow and deep cold. Good to be independent when you loose electricity.

Just reading through here, seen a lot of talk about using steel wool to plug off intake holes. I know how my mind works, and I imagine others too, an idea like this can lead to using it elsewhere. Not trying to be safety nanny, just want to let people know. Steel wool burns very well! Not fast and furious like magnesium mind you, but it is definitely NOT fireproof...it's actually combustible believe it or not!
Just a FYI and/or heads up...or at the least, a bit of interesting trivia for ya.
If anybody is interested, just google it, tons of explanations on the science behind it, videos, experiments, etc, etc.
    Stay safe out there!

This is why I dont like forums, I am not bad mouthing PE and never have and never will, I googled the PE complaints years ago for my own information and read posts about the welds on several stoves. PE makes a good stove but mine did not work, what is the problem?

Your issue seems to be the odd duck. The cracking is more common. Enough so that they have made some changes in design in the summit.

I have had several Vermont Castings and now own a PE T6 and a WS Progress Hybrid. Between your two choices I would go PE. If your going to consider anything else then look at Woodstock as previously mentioned. I would sell my T6 for another WS is a heartbeat.

The price is good. Found this; "Avalon pellet stoves and wood stoves is a brand of stoves owned and manufactured by Travis Industries, based in Washington State."
I still have the stove that Candian Border gave me; the baffle is completely burned out in it. I paid $125.00 just to get the stove shipped to me. I ma thinking of trying to put in a new baffle (would have to be custom done) and see if I can recover the $125.00.
