Maybe its just me and because of the PRICE I paid mainly. Im unhappy with this stove right now. Dont get me wrong I love the burn pot( although I think the scraper is a poor design) and the features on the control are wonderful. Other then that this stove is a rattling bag of bolts. When that feed motor kicks. Omg the clean out plates and brick panel buzz and shake like crazy. Also theres alot of ash traps in this stove. Maybe its me. Maybe somebody can give me some insight here because I paid 4400$ for this stove and thats a massive massive price in my eyes and I feel like i got the quality of my old us stove from tractor supply except that one was quiet. Ready to put this thing on craigslist. Need some words of harmon wisdom

If your not happy with it and it's less then 30 days I would bring it back and just be honest , you just don't like it and see if they can work you a deal on something else .

Man I'm really sorry to hear you are not happy with it. Was not expecting this. You mentioned a lot of ash traps and rattles. Is there more to it than that? I don't have any experience with the Advance so I can't speak directly to it, but the P series model stoves have no concerns in those areas. Is it cranking out the heat you need? The rattles to the extent you describe do not sound normal at all. Almost like something is bound up or needs greasing. In the P68 when the auger motor runs you hear it, but definitely no rattles. With the P43 we hardly hear any noise at all except the tinkle of pellets into the auger.

Maybe Lousyweather or someone with first hand Advance experience can shed some light.

Yes plenty of heat. The rattling is from the clean out plates and brick panel. Dealer brushed it off saying expansion will fix it. Well I know bs when I hear it. There this y shaped metal bracket on the advance that is supposed to hold the plates in place but it only makes contact with one plate. I have boiler fiber paper wedged under the brackett and plate which helped some but for that price I shouldn't be wedging chit anywhere

Is this a stove that was dealer installed? I assuming it's a new stove, so even if you installed it, there has to be some sort of warranty......if there's something wrong that the dealer can't fix, have them take it back.

If I remember correctly he bought it at dealer but it was a self install. I'm surprised to hear he paid $4400 though. I thought I remembered a thread where he got a good deal on it from a dealer that had a few left and he got a good deal on it. The advance has been discontinued by harman. I have an older advance and can't say I have experienced anything he's going through with his new unit.

Yeah he bought it new but he installed it himself. I hope you can get the rattle figured out and I'm curious what you mean about the ash traps though. I have an older advance and haven't experienced anything like what your going thru. Don't give up just yet. It's a solid stove

Yes self install. Dealer inspected the install said it was fine. The dealer like I said keeps feeding me Bs about it. Didnt even fire up the stove when I paid for " combustion set up" thru them

fast reply- busy time of year

$4400? WAYYYY too much money for it, Advance is a discontinued product.....when it wasn't discontinued, it was $3600-$4000, depending on the dealer. No reflection on you, but, you could have gotten an XXV, which is quieter, puts out more heat, better looking, for less.

It shouldn't rattle.....worked on plenty, they don't rattle....sounds like the plates are installed incorrectly or loose.....tighten that retainer. The brick panel also shouldnt rattle...its not in there right, or one of the motors is totally imbalanced.

Ash traps, yeap. Old design. There is a reason its discontinued. Newer models are MUCH easier to clean, less traps, quieter.

Your self-install? Shouldnt matter, unless you messed up putting the plates in (hard to mess up)

My conclusion: Call the dealer, explain the issue. He robbed you on the price, so, maybe you can get a tech out there to check the thing out...it IS covered under warranty, and the rattling isnt normal. You will hear the feed motor hum, you will hear pellets falling on the auger, you will hear the distribution fan, but you SHOULDN'T hear plates rattling. Let the dealer check it out.

I had no wiggle room on price. There where only 3 left In halifax and I wanted one. Dont like any other harman. Thats my issue. Price was 3600$ before the trim, tiles and tax. Trim and tiles are a scam if u ask me. The plate retainer when tight(and trust me its tight) does not make contact with both plates this is where i have boiler fiber paper wedged under to keep both plates tight. Still rattles. Called then dealer he said this is for expansion reasons. BS. They came and inspected it said my install was fine

I would try and get something else . I'm sure the dealer will resist the idea. I would start by being nice but let him know you found out it was discontinued and now you know why .

Man if I dropped that kind of bread on a stove and the dealer wouldn't be willing to help me I would be tearing someone a new hole.Hopefully they stepup and do right for you Lord.
