Probably nobody was more surprised than I was when we learned about it. I just happened to be talking to someone there on the day they decided to have one so learned about it a bit early. I hope there is a good turnout but there always has been so no doubt will be again.

One thing that really helped with my AS, was a dolly and unpacking all of the easy off pieces, like grate, some of the inside soapstone, the top lid, the loading door, the andirons etc etc. That prolly took 75lbs off the AS and I'll bet it will take more than that 100lbs off the IS. Also helps to have a couple young muscle men. Coax with free beer.

My IS had to go down a flight of stairs. I stripped it down as far as I could (door, cat and sled, internal soapstone, side panels, lid). I think it probably took closer to 200-250 lbs off of it. It was easy to handle with an appliance hand truck after that. BEWARE.....the internal soapstone is a pain to get back in. I numbered each one with a Sharpie before removing.

There is a video on Woodstocks website that shows how to reinstall the soapstone if you end up taking them out and not remembering how to put them back in.

damm good to hang out with a few of you today. Thanks to those of you who traveled to make it a good FHC showing. I'm proud to be on this forum. Good food, cool gifts, and I maybe learned a thing or two about building a pond. Or maybe not.

Last year I took about 2 pics, this year about 6 pics. Once we got yappin, pics went by the wayside.

The Absolute Steel on demo. The secondary light show was amazing, and when it was closed down more, the flames dies down and the cat took over. Very impressive.

This was quote a looker. I had to stop and take a picture. I like the look of the tall legs.

Here is part of the FHC group. Left to right. Myisheatsmyhome, Canadian border vt, Dennis, Judy, me behind Judy, Unhdsm, Hollywood on the right. I apologize, I think that may be Unhdsm's wife in the front?

BDFand burndatwood showed up and we met Sappy from the other site. He has the FHC website now, so maybe he will join us here. The two stoves on the right were being built yesterday, and the owners were able to see it being assembled. That was pretty cool. 20161022_130448.jpg

The Woodstock folks were awesome and as usual, these folks were great. We missed you raybonz .

When Backwoods Savage gets back, he will have a bunch to add I'm sure.

The tall stove actually looks pretty nice.. Did they have one of those burning too?

No, they did not. The demo model actually had a thin sheet of hammered steel covering the face of the wings. I liked that small detail, but it was hard to see the texture with the dark paint.

Thanks for posting this. That Demo AS you show in the 2nd pic is the one I had in my family room, I can tell because of the notch in the upper part of the right hand wing. I guess it just keeps getting used. :)

I woulda' been there byt the ole' lady wouldn't let me cancel the Hawaii Vacation.

Oh now that is interesting that you were testing that one.

Timing was tough this year for a few.

It may also have been the one that was being demo'd last year as well. I'm not certain about that, but I think it was.

The turnout was a bit smaller than expected but we were surprised at the count (not exact but could tell a lot by how many meals). From what I understand the sales were great too and that, of course, is one good reason to have an Open House.

We were at the factory Friday and it was really a busy place. They could not make stoves and give-aways fast enough! They were really working hard to prepare. Then Saturday they still had many working all day. Even Tom, the owner was painting on Saturday. Friday, he did a little of everything; after getting over the shock of finding us there when we had told them we weren't coming. He is one great guy as is everyone who works there. We're proud to feel like one of the family there.

I will try to get some pictures posted but like Jon, we did not take as many as we should have and forgot all about them once the visiting began.
