After a cold front pushed the remnants of Matthew off shore it got a little cool around here. It was warm and rainy over the weekend but now it is cool and dry. Outside we had highs around 60°F and lows in the low 40s. It took a couple of days but the house cooled down to the low 60s and SWMBO was cold. "We've got all that wood, when are you going to start using it?" That was all the incentive I needed. Made a small fire late yesterday with some softwood & uglies. Did not put too much on at bedtime, we didn't really need an over-night burn. Just set the stove real low for the night. To my surprise there were enough hot embers this morning to throw a couple of small splits on and warm up the house for breakfast. With the house warm & the sun out I'll let it burn out today. We (I mean she) will decide later if we need an evening fire. KaptJaq
We was warm yesterday and predicted to be 74 today then 55 tomorrow. Looks like we'll be up and down for the next week or 2.
We thought about having a fire today but the house was at 72 this morning and now at 5 it is still comfortable. We will have a fire tomorrow cause they are saying we should be having a hard freeze tonight.
We came soooooooooo close to having our first firepit of the season as temps dropped to 62 Monday morning and 66 Tuesday, but wasn't cool enough after dinner either night so..........I wait.
It's been getting pretty chilly here at night all week so we've been having some evening fires. Tonights a little warmer though - I've got the doors and a couple windows open, hoping to get the house below 70 but its not happening so far...
Yeah, the house was still 70, but we're headed down to 40 tonight, so I lit a small one earlier. There'll be another in the morning, I'm sure.
