Any preferences for a new helmet. I do a lot of trail clearing/firewood getting in all seasons. I would like one with the ratchet adjustment to accomodate a hat in the winter and face/hearing protection. I tried on the Husky Technical helmet and it's great but it should be at that price:).

I am in Canada so not all of the models comonly available in the US are here. But any experiences are welcome incase I end up across the border before I buy one.

    Thanks

I'd be curious as well. I have the Elvex with the face guard and ear muffs. Seems to be good and hearing protection is great but since I don't have experience with others - don't know.

I am in the same boat as you. I have only owned one helmet, a Stihl B helmet with face and hearing protection included. It has worked great just would like the ratchet adjustment feature. Maybe I will just get the A helmet with the ratchet. Figured maybe I ahould upgrade while replacing my old one:)

I use the Stihl helmet that has the ratchet, ears and mesh shield. It works well in the winter with a knit hat.

Consider the weight as well! A few ounces can make a big difference after a couple hours perched on your noggin.

I have a couple different helmets. The lower end Husqvarna non ratcheting one. A Dolmar which is probably some rebranded helmet. My next one will be a husqvarna technical forest helmet. As soon as I lose enough weight I want to get some pretty pants and a jacket.

Rockman - much more comfortable than the generic Husq/Stihl/Peltor, etc. I love mine. I also really love my Petzl Vertex Vent, but it's more of a climbing helmet and way more expensive.

I have the Stihl Woodcutter series, came with helmet I wear a baseball cap backwards under, mid-grade chaps and a cheap pair of safety glasses that broke last weekend and storage bag-Helmet and chaps fit great, fold down mesh and good hearing protection

So can a few ounces. LOL

For an adjustable suspension why buy a whole new helmet? Most suspensions can be replaced at much lower cost.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I would love to get a Rockman but can't find any for sale in Canada. I am going to see if any stores around Bangor Maine carry them.

CoreyB the Husky Technical helmet is for sure the most comfortable. It almost feels like you don't have one on:)

Oldman47 changing the suspension would be great and I might do it as well. I want to have second helmet as my father in law doesn't have one and would never buy one himself so I am going to hand my old down to him. I am also going to get him some chaps for Christmas. 50/50 he wears either of them but I will feel better knowing I tried:)

    Thanks again for the comments.
