I have the dr rapid fire for 5 years now and no problems at all. I must of split over 25 cords still starts on the second pull . Make sure you grease the plate before you split each time that's what the guy told me when I purchased mine..

I do not know much about the kinetic splitters. Are they capable of splitting a 24 inch round of hickory etc? If it works for you I say great, but for a little more you could get a decent quality hydraulic unit. Love to see a video..

I used to have to do that with my 7 ton Electric, it did a good job but, with the 22 ton hydraulic, reading the grain is optional

Well it works well! Big knotty ash to 2 or 3 hits to bust. Stuff in the 18 to 20" range. Did take a video but can only upload it to Facebook right now. Machine didn't move at all when splitting in my driveway. All I can say is wow it's fast..lol.. I'll post pictures in a second.

Congrats man  , that will do the job , better than splittin it all by hand , easier on your body and a heck of alot faster :axe::axe:
I bet that table is real nice, keeping stuff from falling on the ground

Yes it is. Wish it was a hair wider but it's perfect for 3 and 4 split rounds. Never a thought when I bought it but it lines up perfectly both height and width with my little tractor wagon. A nice coincidence!

You could get you one of these tubs to put under the splitter for the splitter trash, I'm sure all of it would not go directly into it but most of it would.
You can get them at Tractor Supply and Home Depot, I have one that is 15 years old, I drag it around all the time, bottom hasn't worn through yet

One of the drawbacks of these is price. It was a lot more than a 27 ton hydraulic. I've used a friend's hydraulic quite a bit and the speed of this thing is unbelievable. The only downside I see so far is you can't split vertical. I have some real back breakers on my trailer right now that I'll have to roll off and noodle.

I spent over $5,000 on my American splitter, but it does have a log lift and table grates etc. it would be cool to see a kinetic and a hydraulic unit "race" through a comparable pile of rounds. At the end of the day, if you like/love the splitter and it works I say :dex:to you!! Enjoy

That sounds like a lot for no nice options! Get a 4, 6, or 8 way wedge at least?

I opted for the larger engine, longer stroke cylinder,, hydraulic lift, removable trays/pans etc. I burn big wood, so a 4 or 6 way wedge is not needed more often than not. I would say I split 2 to three times faster with this than I did the old machine. When I was burning 3 to 4 cord per year, I swore by the smaller unit. Now that I am bumping near 10, this unit is a life saver. Would love to try the kinetic as a point of reference on speed.

20161011_150353.jpg Got that knocked out in about an hour today. I need to have it parallel to the trailer instead of at the rear if I'm splitting rounds directly off the trailer. You live you learn..lol..
