Getting cooler out and we've had some evening a morning fires(when we're home). This is almost a full cord and I've got room outside for another three or four cords just outside the door. [IMG]

This pic is looking down at the under stairs wood store room. Top three steps are hinged so I flip em up and dump loads downs. I had my daughters help by stacking it until it was no longer viable to do so. This is our first winter in this home so looking forward to cheap heat!

Thats a cool idea, flipping the steps up and sending the splits underneath.
Do they stay under the stairs like we see in the pic or do they get stacked somewhere else?

Under the stairs. The door to that "closet" is 5' from the stove, and there's plywood slats in rails to keep the wood from leaning against that door. Pull a piece of plywood out as the pile goes down. I'll post some more pics a bit later tonight when I'm back inside. Sharpening all my chains right now. Gotta go cut more wood soon!

I can't take any credit for this design. My friend was moving and offered us first chance at this home. We weren't planning on moving from our previous home, but this is our dream home and fit the budget. We always wanted a wood stove and now have a great setup, though in the basement. But for a basement setup, I think it's very well done, easy to utilize, and beautiful. One more pic at the top of the stairs headed outside. As you can see, need to get splitting! Actually a friend and i share a splitter and he's got tons of space so that's where our stacks are. Hoping to stay three years ahead from This winter on
