Maybe a bit of hallucinatin' too, eh? I figure they just feel sorry for the old guy with the gray hair standing in front of 'em (me).

No pics, too busy working:) Took down Mom's ash tree. 18 loads to the brush pile and 4.5 truckloads of wood. Had about 7 helpers and had it done in 6 hrs. Hired a guy who was swinging around on ropes. Got it to the ground and took it from there. Figured the FHC crowd would appreciate this.

No. It ended up easier to just let the logger find his own buyer for the logs. Rather than coordinate with several Amish mills near here. Transport trucks could haul out 4-5000 bd.ft. to the big mills.

Another thing was the local Amish mills get much larger logs from the forestry harvester/supplier. Good when ordering larger/wider boards. (Like 2x12x14s)

So the lumber is all Amish rough cut or full dimensional lumber. Just from larger diameter trees. Heavier and stronger but more time consuming.

Caffeine going in. Almost time for shower. Going to start building when the sun is up high enough that we can see.

Yesterday was a soaker. I wrapped up canning 6 quarts of stew and 12 jars of apple jelly.

Today is fall prep day. Clear and cool out. Ill be repairing the flashing to the chimneys, moving some wood up and getting the boiler ready. The stove is cruising along nicely.
