I hate fog. However, we've had a lot of it lately and this morning it was thick. But it reminded me of another old saying:

Count the foggy days in October and that is how many snow storms you can expect in the coming winter.

There is another old saying about October and it might be true in some areas but not in ours:

There will always be 18 clear days in October.

We had some serious fog this morning when I left for work. luckily I only had a 5 mile drive this morning.

Can't say it is. I learned things like this from Grandpa, but not the 18 days thing.

Ah yes, and the next time you drive with the fog lights on, try to recall what it was like back in the days of 6 volt electric on cars and that was long before halogen lights too. It was awful.

We usually have foggy mornings in late August, but this year, they stayed away until Oct. So very dry here. Must have had something to do with it. We are told we are in a severe drought now. I hope everyone is careful with their matches.

You have to go back into the 1950's to find it. I'm thinking 57 or 58 may have been the last year before everything went to 12.

I think Beetles held onto 6 volt into the early '60's, IIRC.
