Got done 3 loads..... finally. I haven't css in a very long time, so this felt great. This was pine that was leaning, had some rot, but most of it was good. The splitter had a leaky gas line which I fixed, and the plug was fouled up, and i wasn't driving all the way into a town on a Sunday, so I cleaned it up and she started. The 372 ran great, and the chaps still fit, lol! We have a wider area in the driveway, a sandy turn around, so this will be my processing area. I'm still debating where I want the main stacks and where I want to build a woodshed.
Feels good doesn't it WS.... Nice big chunky splits I see. Were you able to bring along some of that nice hardwood you had processed from your old place? What type of trees do you have on this new place? Looks more open than your old place too! Congrats!
Looks good WS! The weather is just getting better for that... starting to feel good enough to do a bit of that now....
The wood stayed in Pa, it was tough to let 3 years worth of all oak behind, but it will warm the next burner. There are some hardwoods, but this area is mostly boreal, birches and pines. I did see some oak on an atv ride. My forest is young, so there isnt especially too much really big stuff, but enough to get ahead and get by every year. It is more open, a lot of this i did cutting and mowing. A lot needs to be done, but we would like to plant a decent plot next spring, but likely the spring after. Thanks! I agree, the temps are certainly getting nice to be working outside. We might see 70° later in the week. Thanks......for now we have a oil/kero forced air heater and a pellet stove. I WILL buy a woodstove and install it by next fall for sure, unless something happens sooner. Yes, the wood is still wet, so trying to get ahead for next year a little at a time. I'll add, a guy named Well Seasoned cannot burn wet wood. It would be blasphemy!
Thanks....... there are some birch, more pine, and some smaller maples on the lineup. Any downed birch that I looked at is already gone. I cannot cut anything live until I get Dawn's approval, lol. It may be 2 weeks until I get more done. I start the new job on Tuesday and then we have family coming up this weekend.
Lookin gooder buddy! It'll be nice to have dry wood before you get a stove installed for sure. Good luck with the new job!
The new place looks awesome! A little at a time and you'll be right back on the 3 year plan. You have any wood stoves in mind?
