So, my wife and I picked up a load of my wood that I had at my buddy's house. It was nearly all dead standing beech, cut over last winter, split in early spring, and stacked & top covered.

We hauled the load home on Saturday in the rain, and I stacked it today.

I've got another load just like this of nearly all beech I need to bring over.

Here it is all stacked. On the far right. There's a handful of shagbark hickory splits and American elm in there too.

Doing my calculations, it's .65 cord

Good day of work right there. Sometimes I don't mind working in a light rain like that. Gotta get some of mine moved close to the house. Trying to figure out a new place to stack. Right now I stack it on my deck for winter and the deck wasn't really built right, footings are kinda weak and a cord of wood on there is pretty heavy.

I took a few moisture meter readings from the beech in this load.

They were all in the 16% range.

Great thing about building a deck new.. knew I was going to put 10 cord on it... my HS buddy sill picks on me says deck will hold his dump truck loaded! 5 footing rated for 18 ton apiece... Problem my wife loves fall colors and sunsets so not loaded on deck yet but will be by end of month!

    Nice work Horkn

I've thought about building a new deck but it's not financially feasible right now. Also, I know about the wife problems, mine wants a concrete patio to replace the deck eventually. No way I'm stacking firewood on a brand new slab of stamped concrete. So that would leave me trudging through the snow bringing in one sled at a time.

I actually should have stacked this last load, and the next one on my patio.

I guess I got carried away with having all the wood, all happy in one spot.

Concrete comes up to full strength in 2 to 3 weeks. Fully cured in 28 days.
4 to 5" thick concrete with a little rebar and on a good base will outlast us:yes:
