Thx all-Yes Fanatical1 I will begin cutting shortly, I have a number of trees dropped since last yr, ash, locust and shagbark that need to be brought off the farm-I dont get serious about bowhunting until @Halloween and I use this month to "scout" while running the saw...My stands are hung and I will be running cams, checking them on trips for wood-my deer are used to the saw, its my grunt call...Havent seen any brutes yet but they are there-I know your state has tons of big boys... NYCountry the shed holds 5 cords, 1 per bay
I set aside a good number of dated splits to check w MM, prob tomorrow-They are ash, cherry, locust and shagbark-the rail rack is empty and that troubles me.....time to CUT MORE!

Ok folks, I have some moisture readings to share, I'll be as brief as possible-These were from the rail rack I moved to the shed yesterday and this stack, put up in Nov '15 and March 16' was uncovered which I dont necessarily advocate cause all my other stacks are covered, I just wanted to experiment and illustrate what full southern sun exposure, prevailing wind direction and elevation can produce. I recently scored a new piece of 10x10 rubber roofing so I'll be cutting that into 2' wide sections to cover the rail rack in the future-I will also at the end of pics be posting MM of oak from Mar 15', beech from May 15' and locust from Sept 15', all of which has been in the shed since C/S 12" off the ground with expanded metal grating for the floor
I'm hoping to get similar results from, all above except elevation but with top cover.. they are on 2 inch stickers but most of your wood seems to start a foot high.. I like idea.. less stacking first 2 rows from my knees..
