This 7.5 hp three phase motor goes on one of my many industrial air compressors. I tested it off my self built test circuit and it made a bad sound so it sat for a long time waiting for a rebuild.
I removed the bell ends today and one bearing is diffently bad, removing the junction box cover showed a group if wires welded to the cover from a 20160830_122248.jpg tiny gole in the rubber end cover.

Holy moose nuggets...that's a serious air compressor motor!

Do you use that to inflate the kids basketballs and pool floats?:)

7.5hp is still on the small side industry wise, even my 55cfm 120gallon tank 2 stage with a 10HP 3ph is still considered small.

We have 3x 600hp motors upstairs on our compressors for work. :) They make the ground shake when they start up, pulling 1600A of current.

Geez, it's bad enough when the mag. contactor shuts on mine sounds like a 30-06 going off. Obviously not a soft start item.

Ours has a start winding in it, and it shakes the floor and makes weird noises on start up. It's that noise that says man that's a lot of current being pulled!!
