Only got maybe 3 cords here at the house. Got 2 trees in the woods im gona go get after deer season is over. I gave 1 cord to a friend in need, but by the end of oct i should have 6-7 cords on hand. Mostly soft woods, pine, tamarack, doug fir, juniper. Small amounts of elm, maple, poplar.
Very nice that will serve you well. Is that going to be for your wood you burn each winter or for your longer term storage?
I got about 8 cords good to go, but will burn 4 or 5 depending on the winter. I have another 5 0r 6 cord stacked for the next couple years. There is a half cord awaiting splitting, and I have two friends who want me to come over and do some cutting/clearing for them, time allowing. So I should get a few more cord of logs there.
Each bay is 8' by 10' and should hold a winters worth of fuel so I'll have two years under roof and one year bucked beside to split and stack under roof in the spring. It will only be split and stacked for a little under two years before being burned but will be bucked a year before that.
I have about 8.5 cord seasoned close to da house, and another 2 cord that needs longer to season at a different location.
10 cord in the woodshed (4 cord of that were from last season's mild winter). One stack turned out to occupy 129 sq ft of floor space, so the cord approximation math was even easier!
I know Mag replied to your comment but I will add that wood does not rot if it can dry out after it gets wet, wood rots if it stays wet too long.
I put 3 cords on the covered porch for last winter. Burned one. Lots more in the pole barn. I'll bring more up to porch when I get down to 1 cord. I have 3 1-cord compartments on the porch, so it is easy to rotate the stock
3.5 cords of oak 4 cords of maple about a 1/2 cord of pine and a 1/2 cord of spruce we used about 2/3 that last Winter so should be all set. I've got several cords of pine in logs that finish seasoning pretty quick cut and split too. Just gotta winch 'em up a hill
Got another cord split and stacked today. For the first time in almost a year, the driveway actually has no wood in it waiting to be bucked or split. Won't help me this winter except for parking the cars. I guess that means it's time to start hauling out more of the main trunk of the giant ashes we felled early this spring.
