The heat has broken here had mid 90's all this past weekend and Monday.
Woke to 62 this am - straight from summer to fall.. foliage is going to suck with the drought we've been in but we got a fortunate t-storm Monday with ~1.5" rain.

going to drop a couple beetle killed pines this weekend for some fall '17 shoulder wood

I took the bike for a good test ride tonight. It's fixed as far as I can tell. It cranks over fast, and starts nicely. The headlights don't flicker anymore. It's said that this mod actually adds horsepower even over the properly functioning stock wiring.

I can tell you the bike has more snap to it now versus how it's been all summer prior to me rewiring it.

I'll ride to work tomorrow. It's supposed to be 66 and partly sunny. So it should be a nice day to ride to work.

rottiman , from my readings on this wiring issue, one thing that's changed for the better is MOSFET regulator/rectifier units vs the shunt type R/R on newer bikes.

A nice event to enjoy greendohn. A neighbor and I just did this last night. It felt good after a long day of work on the barn project.

Caffeine going in. Yesterday we were able to make very good progress! I completed the drainage tile runs, which included adding an extra for good measure.

My neighbor from down the road, who has a Kubota tractor with a loader came down with his machine and worked the whole day with me. We are up to grade on the inside and outside.

Just some more finishing buckets, compaction, and back dragging on three sides. Then on the back side of the barn I need to take down three trees and move a section of fence back so we can make the slope of grade much more gradual back there. Big progress yesterday. What a relief. I can't thank my neighbor enough. :)

Morning Hoarders, breakfast intake going on. Then out to put the final coat of paint on the plow blade. Also need to get the vac system on the tractor as the annual drop of leaves and pine needles is about to start. No rain forecast here until the weekend, and the temps make it pleasant to work outside. Looks like this will be the first year I'll have all of my outside work finished before "winter" sets in. Everyone have a great day and stay safe....................

Almost got into the 30s last night, 41 when I woke up. Looks like a beautiful day in store. Went out to eat last night with my bride and mother. Had a good time and good food.

Hope all goes well for everyone.

Nice morning, sun is shining and there is a bit of chill with a little wind. Coffee was good as was the egg and cheese omelet and the crispy bacon. Now to get the gym bag backed and go to the Y for my hour of exercise in the pool. Retirement sure is tough on me! NOT! You all have a wonderful day.

Clear and cold again this morning on the walk. Perfect day for campinspecter to go out for another load of wood. The supervising crew went with him as well. I get to see the hoard they gather when I get home for lunch.

Highs in the mid 60's today. Hard to believe it was 90 last weekend.

I'm starting to get the itch to cut wood and hunt deer.

McDonald's is giving hot coffee away today. Any size or flavor. Has to be the HOT coffee. I got mine. Tried the pumpkin spice. To me, it tastes a lot like gingerbread flavor. Nice! Thanks Mickey D.

Attached the pre-finished flooring to the workshop counter this morning.
Also made the 2nd fire in the 30. Brought the temps up a bit higher this time and the paint/stove started seasoning a bit more. I'm thinking one more fire like that one and then a hotter one and it'll be done off-gassing.
Great stove from a great company! Keep up the good work Englander!!!

Just switched insurance companies. Had previously been with Nationwide and Allstate. Now with Citizens. First time in 25 years that the insurance company sent out an inspector to look at the wood stove, take measurements and fill out some form to be sent to the underwriters. This guy was young (early 20's) and could not answer any questions I had regarding what happens next. He said he had seen a lot of "homemade" stoves (made from 55 gallon barrels and lots of "old" time stoves), but never anything as pretty as my Woodstock Fireview. :D

I showed him all the stove features and gave him lots of detail about the hearth build and the R-value requirements. He noted them on his form, but it was pretty clear he wasn't nearly as interested in wood stoves as I was. He said the process takes about 2.5 weeks ... but couldn't tell me anything more than that ... said they keep in the dark. I guess I'll call my agent in a few weeks to see what if anything results from this inspection. Perhaps my rates will go down because my hearth exceeds the R-value by double the requirement. :)
