Courtesy of the city recycle area. Couple more loads there but this is about all my back can handle for one day.
That's a nice score! Our town doesn't accept any woody brush or tree parts. They rather just grind out all up into mulch if they cut a tree down. They sell the mulch pretty cheap, but still. You'd think there would be more free wood ads on CL, but there's not a lot of that here.
Locust is worth sweating over. A little rough on chains, but splits nice for as tough and hard as it is. BTU's are at the top of the charts. ive split a little over 15 cord of it so far this summer. I normally would be begging for a change of pace, but I know it's going to produce a lot of heat for me so I keep at it.
I hope that pile is still there next week cuz the daughter just got called into work and I got stuck with babysitting. Oh well, ID rather spend time with my grand daughter than cut wood.
There is no shame in that wood scrounge, we take it where we can get it. Some time it pours, some time it sprinkles. But it all adds up my friend!
I would never attack a fellow member of the Fraternal Order of Keystone Owners. The BL was actually bonus wood I found while scrounging some Black Cherry down the road, a little of which you can see in the pic. Post with pics coming when I get it stacked.
