Does your "key" look like this??

    14749380925451955732636.jpg 1474938122447571823244.jpg

Did the dealer not tell you everything about the truck??

You do have a key hole.. And that truck can and will start with a key.. The key that's in your FOB. For when the battery does fail or it falls of the FOB itself because the slide was hit and your "FOB" dropped. But you still have a key on your hip :)

Most only have one keyhole.. The drivers door.

Guaranteed it has a keyhole :D

They all have a keyhole on a door, but I've yet to see a keyhole on any door but the driver door, and sometimes the hatch on some cars.

Yep looks exactly like that. I never knew that! !!

Did not get it at a dealership. I pick my new trucks up at a motor pool/vehicle depot. Those people don't know anything about anything that assign your truck to you. Trucks arrive at motor pools from a transport.

Yep.. Still has a keyhole. As does the tailgate.

    You can't ask questions?

My first question was what if your battery in the fob dies? That fob is the same as mine?? So what stops me from stealing ANY Ram?

The signal that is sent from the fob! So what if the fob doesn't work??

    You need a key :D

And know you know... The rest of the story!! ;)

I could ask a question. But I'm sure I would get a blank stare. I guess I could call a dealer but I never thought about what do I do if the fob conks out? I could of asked when I took it back for a warrenty alignment. It pulled left bad when I got it. And yes all tires were same pressure. They realigned it , saying it was out and it still had a pull. I said did you swap tires front to back to make sure it wasent a tire pull, which they acknowledged it possibly was. They said no. I said well will you do it. They said were on the next vehicle now. I said I don't have any more time to wait and it really won't matter cause the first time i go in deep mud and the rims are filled they get out of wack anyway and get out of balance and they it drives like crap anyway. Wasent impressed. New dealer time when it needs warrenty work for me.....oh wait we were talking about key fobs and questions.

The folks that work there just do an inspection of the one I turn in, and mark all the dents and scratches in the paint.

Well.. At least you know you have a key to open and start your truck when the fob gets lost and/or fails because of a dead battery.

Those vehicle pool people are generally pretty useless.
" Do you have your vehicle?"

    "Yes, I do"

    "Ok then. Next!"

I think the best bet would be to read the manual. RTFM as it's known on forums. ;)

Yep. Good to know. Getting crushed would be a possibility also just a dead battery! Ha

Most of the time the key never leaves the truck.

If it's like all the fobs I've seen and used over the years, hell get a replacement work vehicle before the fob battery dies. ;)

yep your probably correct! The last truck was a 2012 Colorado. Still had the original battery, original wipers, 2 key fobs with original batteries, original brakes.

What do you know, if you look I do have one :zip:

    I guess I just assumed I didn't have a key so I didn't notice it?

And that's what that little switch is for on the fob...to release the key! 20160927_140310.jpg

Well, my key is a bit different, it has the remote start and "Sit Down" button to lower the truck all the way down for entry/exit and easy loading (tailgate is lower).

And I do have the key hole in the driver door as well as Ramboxes and tailgate. BUT, there is no keyhole inside the truck to start the truck. So if the keyfob went completely dead, you could not start the truck. However, the keyfob is designed so that when the battery gets very low, it stops outputting a strong signal, so you have to hold it up to the dash to get it to start. It will work this way for a long time apparently since you are not using much energy. This gives you plenty of time to change the battery.

In addition, Ram can unlock and start the car remotely from a satellite via their "Assist" system (similar to "OnStar"). Pretty soon, you will just get in the car, and call an 800 # and they will start it up and drive you home remotely!!! :D

What kinda mileage did you get on the way back? I don't think I already asked that? If I did? I apologize! :)

Thanks, she sure is music to my ears every time I start her up. That small 6 cyl diesel sound just never gets old. She's not hard to look at either! ;) I was looking around under the hood today to see how/where I'm going to install my jumper cable power plug, and I'm amazed how small that motor really is yet delivers a lot of power.

I've only put 100 miles on it so far, all around town and the average which I Reset at the dealership is 23.9. I would have filled up twice already in my old ford....

I'm at 24.7 today. But I towed my Dixie Chopper to the dealer because I lost power in the right cylinder. But I average 28-28.4 MPG on the highway (my commute is 57.4 miles, one way to work).

And I hear ya on the sound. I'm loving this truck. Had several people come up to me at the pump and ask me about it
