Well the girlfriend went out last night with one of her friends. So I spent the evening in the garage. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Finished the last couple parts this morning and was able to run a few loads through it. Sure makes for faster cutting of branches.

That is a very nice design and well executed! I like how you have it on the trailer, genius!

It should be removable in two pieces. Haven't tried it yet as I built it on the trailer to start. That way I don't lose a trailer and should be able to do it by myself.

    Why is the bottom slanted?

Well I thought maybe it would help clear the pieces from the rack after the cuts but I was wrong. They stay wedged in there pretty good so I have to go through and remove each one by hand before I can reload. Just an idea that didn't work out.

Looks great! The wedge detail might not have worked as you planned, but it sounds like it's doing it's job. It should help to keep the smaller branches from jumping around as you try to cut them.

Now if you can get someone to load the limbs for you and also stack the cut wood, you'll really have it made.

It's going to be used for small branches. As I will be loading by hand and the size of the trailer probably wouldn't stand up to larger log size. I'll put in as big as I can load! :dex:

Yes and I'm "particular" about length. So by the time you mark a bunch of branches for length and then cut. This thing is really seems like it's going to save some time. That and I don't have to bend down a bunch of times.

I also forgot to mention that it only cost me a box of screws to build this. I had a load of 2x kindling delivered last year before winter. It was from a guy that would park a trailer at the local truss factory and they would fill it with cut offs. Trailer was 12x7x4. They were all different lengths. I saved anything over 4ft.

Can't beat that time-saver built from free wood :thumbs:that's what I built my firewood jigs out of and a couple of mini sheds.

Have you ever seen Stinny s trailer splitting setup?
Cool setup less bending over on that

I use my truck ramps and back the splitter up onto the work deck. Fast and easy. The small boom is a 10' pc of 2"x2" tube slid into one of those cheap pickup truck loading booms. I've run a few small cranes over the years, so I had a pretty good idea how strong it would be (or not). It'll handle a 200 lb round easily and the 3x1 speed increase of the lift line makes for a slick back saver.

I'm with you Jeff... I can't wait for snow to slide more logs out this year. It's been a while.
