Black Flies are the official NH state bird. Not really, but they should be, thankfully, the're gone by July.
Oh and speaking of the weekend coming first off supposed to be a little cooler but most of all not being at work... Just had to take down a house service so a small logging outfit could drop some 100' pines and my foreman packed the truck up right away and said we were going around the corner to wait for them to call us to hang it back up because he didn't want to hear the saws running!!!!
We get them here bad too then mosquitos then deer flys for the summer and let me tell you 35 mph on the four wheeler doesn't even keep them off they must run on jet fuel
It just cycled three times and then dropped the T-stat down to it's normal "no call" position. Like 99 says, "Just to get the chill out!"
Got home from vaca today at about noon, had to turn the air on in the house. Should be able to turn it off soon as it is supposed dip into the low 50's.....we'll see if Mr weatherman is right. Going to get a fire going in the pit in about an hour. Picked our Aussie up from the kennel and I'm sure he will enjoy the pit too.
Air? Whoa! It's been a high temp in the 60's the last couple of days and I'd expected you to have about the same there. Glad you got home okay.
Wow. Sounds like the cold front petered out south of us. It is just super here. 63 at present. We did make it to 68 but for a very short time.
Haven't been able to turn off the air here for over a week. Today's projected high/low were 90/60. The 60 just doesn't last long enough to avoid running the air at least most of the day.
Well I got the saw fired up but my plans changed abruptly on Saturday. Instead of heading up in the woods to cut some good firewood for myself, I would up hauling all my equipment to my brother's house across town. He had a large box elder come down on his lawn from the neighbor's house, a few weeks ago, and he got permission from the neighbor to take the tree that fell, as well as two others that were on the neighbor's property and they wanted gone. So I spent all day Sunday cutting and cleaning up box elder trees, and if you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with that miserable excuse for a tree, save yourself the trouble. My father came along too and he spent the day feeding all those little branches through a chipper, while my brother and I took turns cutting and hauling branches to the chipper. I think we wound up with about 2 cords of wood and almost 2 cubic yards of wood chips. I'm glad I don't have any of those trees on my property, I would cut them down in a heartbeat and make sure they never came back. Just a big nasty weed is what they are, I think the maple family should be embarrassed to call it one of their own.
I ran into a box elder freebie a couple years ago at work parking lot. Btus is btus! But I know exactly what you're talking about!!!
spent today splitting and stacking another cord plus, it's nice to work outside without sweating like a pig
Absolutely. I hate bugs and sweating. It's a weed, that box elder, but it's a 18 mbtu a cord weed that seasons fast. I take as much of it as I can, but that may be because I've got a lot of high btu stuff to work on. That quick seasoning, or pre seasoned dead standing elm well keep my primo stuff in the stacks longer. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather. As much as I like hanging out in the boat in the lake on weekends, I do that to keep cool. Cutting on weekends will help me burn calories, collecting btu's, instead of sucking beers down collecting calories. This weekend I should be able to haul more of my stash I cut and split to my house.
