My neighbors are an interesting bunch to say the least, when they came to ask me where the boundaries were for their land I casually asked what they did for work and they proudly said, "We're professional beer drinkers", and by gosh they are indeed! Actually they run a Meth-Lab, but nobody panic, I know it, they know it, heck even the police here know it and keep an eye on the place.

But their greatest concern for me was, what I planned to do with the woods around them since I surround them on every side. I told them straight up, I am a farmer so I plan to clear cut it and turn it into fields. They were horrified wanting to "keep as many trees as possible".

    Not so.

No doubt powered by Budweiser Thinking, they interestingly enough, cut down trees on their land, then burn it in a summer long outside fire pit, but in the winter, keep their shacks warm but getting pallets from anywhere they can and burning those. Isn't that a little backwards? Keep in mind they own 4 acres and 1 acre is field. They already have 2 acres clear cut and they have only been her 3 years.

I am not to bright, but I can do the math and that is not exactly sustainable. Trust me though, I keep a VERY close eye on my property line. The thing of it is, I could keep them in wood all year long from slabs just coming off the saw mills, but they have signs up everywhere along their 4 acres, "Trespassers will be Shot!". I understand wanting to control who goes on and off your land, but that is a bit over the top.

(I know, no photos so it never happened, but I did not feel like being shot today).

Don't think I'd be too interested in supply them with firewood either. Best they keep to themselves. And yes, by all means, do keep an eye on the property lines....always.

If everything you said about them is true, I don't think this is a long term problem.

Jack Straw, I do believe you are right. One already died from a heroine overdose.

It really is too bad, to live their whole lives just to get another injection or to drink another beer is to be missing out so much more on life! In some ways I feel guilty for not inviting them to church, for not showing them a way out of the sad lifestyle they live in, but when another neighbor went to talk to them about selling some scrap iron, they pulled a gun on him. Yes there is compassion, but God does not give us an IQ to be used once and awhile too. I'll just say distant from them I think.

I don't get it. Your neighbors are tweakers that manufacture meth. You have a wife and small children. The cops don't care. And you have no firearms. Yet your biggest concern is their sustainable harvest of firewood? I've been around methheads. Firewood is the least of your worries!

Get some type of firearm for self defense and it probably wouldn't hurt to put up a security system starting with an array of cameras, both wired and wireless, for inside the home, around the outside of the home and around the property. This way if something ever happens, there is a video record of it. Remember, you do have the right to protect you and yours. Stand your ground!

If what you say is true about those neighbors, the police already have their number so it's only a matter of time. One thing to keep in mind, what they do on their property is their business, just as what you do on yours. If however, they cause a disturbance (wild parties and the like, the same if they are sneaking around your property) then place a call to the police and let them handle it.

Where I live, I have mostly gossipy nosy busybodies as neighbors. I set up an array of cameras after one neighbor walked into my house while I was using the bathroom shortly after I moved here (not happy about that). I had one neighbor do some window peeking a bit after that first incident. So I pulled out and loaded all of my firearms placing them around my home and have kept them that way ever since. There is always one in the chamber with the safety on. Otherwise they were packed away in their respective cases. Heck, I planted all of those Thuja Green Giants (90+ as a privacy screen and also strategically placed other ornamental trees around the property to block their view. But that was 5 years ago and they have yet to produce the desired privacy. (too many prying eyes/gawkers) All cause and affect!

It is just a matter of time before the tweakers run out of money and they start looking at stealing from their neighbors. When these people are on drugs like this nothing stops them from doing what ever they need to keep their bad habits going. Looks to me like good advice on here.

He said they run a meth lab so I guess there is a small chance they're not users. If they're running their "business" right they probably don't have "customers" stopping by.

Have seen/been around this type of situation, even up here in the mountains. They sound like small time dealers and users.Leave nothing outside, lock vehicles. An outside video recording system may save you a lot of money in the long run.Do not try God,will not work,at this stage, would only work if they came to you.As you are going into fall, would be a good time to have a sit down talk with your sheriff.Bless you.

I forgot to mention, go ahead and clear cut whatever area you plan on making into a field anyway, but do it sooner than later. Then put up an electric fence with razor wire to boot. No need to make the methheads more comfortable! Who knows, maybe it would help them decide to move someplace else!

Meth users are unpredictable. What sort of traffic do you see there. What if someone come to your house by mistake thinking they are going to rob the meth lab. If they are drunk or loopy on meth, they are a hazard to be anywhere near. Esp. when you have children around. Never know what will get in their heads. I would discreetly put in a security system and let it record the goings on. Then send it to the sheriff and or the feds and put an end to their residency. They have guns. If they get high and have gun, time to get out of that neighborhood.

Soooo, the cops know what they do/are, yet haven't done anything about it?
I'm curious exactly what they're waiting for.
Call the press. Make it known throughout the land.

Never know. I'd be more concerned about them than the customers. Plus the chemicals and potential for fire if something goes wrong.
It's not good however you look at it.

My best friend is the sheriff so when I say they are keeping an eye on them, its a little understated. Fortunately they do keep to themselves and what I think is happening is that they are running drugs from Maine to Mass. I don't see a lot of traffic there at all, just the teenagers in the area stopping in to get their cheap fixes but that is about it.

Here police always accompany an ambulance when there is an overdose so it is pretty evident to see whenever they do so. One day last winter the teenager up the hill went down, then two hours later the police/ambulance showed back up at the meth lab down the hill, then two hours later showed back up again at the meth lab.

You guys can live behind a fortress if you want, but I have no intention of living my life that way. The way it looks to me, with their continuous over-doses with one being taken out already, it is only a matter of time before they do themselves in. That kind of lifestyle is not conducive to longevity.
